I'm a cereal junkie! A few years ago I switched over to eating more healthy cereals with skim milk. I do from time to time drift back to eating a bowl of Cap'n Crunch. C'mon, who don't love the Cap'n. But my fav healthy cereal is Special K Vanilla Almond or Fruit & Yogurt with cold skim. Over time Special K starts hurting the wallet because they are kinda expensive and I can go through a few bowls in a day, one for breakfast and another for a night snack. I use it think Raisin Bran was healthy and good for you but heard that it's actually loaded with sugar so I stop with that. So I just want to get some other opinions on healthy (and cheaper) cereals. Special K have been coming out with some good ass flavors!

I like the count chocula for myself  (I rarely eat cereal), but recommend special K for others.
Since I do not eat in the morning cereal really never happens for me, but I like the special K or oatmeal for my clients.

CO-SIGN THIS ONE !!! (Actually, I buy the store brand at half the price.)
I cut up an apple into the oatmeal before cooking, and add cinnamon.

Apple + cinnamon mixed in is a very good touch ^. Right on.
Also worthwhile ... hit up your local health food (or smaller grocer) and see if they sell bagged BULK content (great prices, and you're not paying for the packaging/marketing/name brand version at the bigger store(s)). You can find oatmeal, rye flakes, health oats, 7- and 12-grain cereal and wheat bran/germ and other healthy warm cereals for good prices. 1KG and 2 - 2.5KG bags ranging from $1.99 - $6.99 for these types of products.
Mix them at a ratio of 1 CUP OF CONTENT to 1.75 - 2 CUPS OF WATER and you're doin' well ^

Exactly, and natural sugar from the raisins!!!!!
Raisin Bran is good for fiber of course but I'm not knowing about natural sugar there fella.
All that white stuff covering the raisins are added sugar. Now imagine there are 500-600 sugar coated raisins in a box, all that sugar on the raisins adds up. Scary ain't it.

You want raisins with NATURAL sweetness not ADDED Sugar ...

yeah, about to change back over to Special K and just add my raisins to it.
for cold cereal 'heart to heart' is an excellent choice.
and don't snooze on 'gorilla munch'.
it's not as healthy 'heart to heart', but it is NOT unhealthy.
and it is darn good tasting!

I agree b/c it helped to get my cholesterol (family history) down. My doctor told me I had cholesterol levels of a middle aged man so I had to get them down. He still proscribed some cholesterol medicine but they have a really bad side effect called "rhabdomyolysis" which is the breakdown of muscles so I didn't take them. I like my oatmeal with cinnamon, honey (good substitute to sugar), or bananas.

Me too...last year, right before my 27th birthday, my cholesterol was at 275. I've definitely cut a lot of things out of my diet since then to keep it down.
