I'm 5'7, 170, mostly muscle...I don't hardly look "overweight". Wouldn't bodyfat be a better indicator?

I dont use BMI.

By that Terrell owens is overweight at 225-230-6'3" and aint an ounce of fat on him, and even bigger athletes like ray lewis would be obese. CRAZY.

I mean can you tell me clevlenad browns running back jamal lewis is obese or that tom brady is overweight. LOL

Good points, guys.

Better question - what's everyone's BODY FAT PERCENTAGES looking like in recent memory?

I haven't checked mine in years, but I was enrolled in the sports sciences program back in college (kinesiology focus) for a duration prior to veering over to psychology/mental health at a later point in time ... and at that time (2001/2002) I was a little bit lighter (5 - 8lbs only) and at 4% body fat.

A more appropriate body fat percentage was supposedly a few notches higher.

* I was always surprised back in the early-90s at SHAQUILLE O'NEAL's health when with the Orlando Magic and starting out in The League. He had his personal chef whipping him up healthy meals (plenty of omelettes / fruits / veggies and whatnot ... he was profiled on Inside Stuff or whatever) ... and he too was 4/5% body fat in his early-20s. People thought of him as a heavier dude and all ... considering his overall mass and stature (and at the time he was involved in ad campaigns with the likes of PEPSI, PIZZA HUT or McDonald's, and so on ... stuff like that  ).

Shaquile aint never been near 4% bodyfat, that is bodybuilding competing level BF, even in the earlier days looking at him I would say 10-12% and that was when he first hit the seen and was only 300. You know how they over hype shit like a muthafucka.

A cat like ben wallace is around 6-7%, and you can tell the difference between him and even a shaq coming out of LSU.

A Solid six pack is around 8% in my experience. Abs can be seen at 10% or so. 6-7% Is that super cut look.

As of monday I was sitting around 12% with around 4 visible abs and decent muscle group separation.

Also people hold fat different. Some men get it bad on their chest and lowerback, some just get the stomach. Just like we see woman posted with small waists and big "fat" asses. Then we see women with chicken legs, no ass and big fat guts and tits. :dunno:

You ever seen "skinny/fat" fat cats, you know the dudes with a huge gut and the arms and chest of a 12 year old boy.

I plan to walk around at 6-8% for most of this year.

Gene,

That's what they noted then ... so I'm just rollin' with that. At his peak lean weight ... I'm thinking he was probably closer to 10% (O'NEAL) in the very early-90s as well.

I'm thinking I'm probably in the 5 - 10% range now myself. Tall/lean ... I want to bulk up in my arms/chest over time.

Oddly enough ... when I was at my max weight of 202lbs around 2001/2002 ... it only really showed on my sides & my face. Everything else was "virtually identical", to steal a line from the UFC's Mike Goldberg

Hell yeah, in the early 90's they were on all shaq gimmicks, tearing down backboards and shit. Male fitness models are 5-7% and shaq never looked anywhere near in that kind of shape. Although, like you said in the early 90's he was in the best shape and just let himself go through most his career. :smh:

I am with you, the weight shows up in my face within a matter of pounds its the first to come and the first to go. Some people dont get that as bad.

Gene and Izayoi,

Good info'.

You must be very lean, Iz'. Your BMI is sitting strong at 21.5 considering:

"* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9"

Ha- Tell that to my personal trainer.
That ninjas calipers are depressing but I am leaner since I've been lifting heavier weights.

I would consider myself definitely more mesomorph than ecto. My legs and arms build up fast- I had to cut back on the presses so I wouldn't get that Helga the German Powerlifter look. Lol.

6% at 285lbs is extremely commendable the summer of 2007.

Helga the German powerlifter :rolleyes::D:lol:

Me ... I'm def' ectomorphic. Lean and needing of bulking up. Very high metabolic rate (especially in my earlier years). Also alot of exercise too ... track and field (6 years) / basketball (team + rec') / soccer (league play for 13 years + rec') / lacrosse (4 years) / cross country (1 year) / baseball (1 year). I was eating like a damn horse too.
