Has anyone here put an emphasis on back exercises to straighten out years of slouching?

I haven't put and emphasis on back exercises, but I notice that when I slouch on my crunches my posture gets poor.

It's all about strengthening your core.

Well... I know having ann imbalance between your back and chest will cause you to hunch over, but I focus on being limber. My back exercises consist of strictly pullups in its various functions and I do a lot of cleans, hang pulls and snatches using dumbbells for high reps and on the weekend I do an olympic workout that I use low reps and a barbell. Then AI do a lot of yoga nad pilates. So, I that has improved my posture and i try not to slouch in my seat.

Get a barbell and do some deadlifts, that will straighten your posture out quick. It will also eliminate back pain.

Also, Check out those MBT shoes, they're inspired by these people from Africa called the "Masai" tribe, they have perfect posture.
I'm reading the reviews on Amazon.com, people say they immediately felt the difference.

My suggestions ^^^^ along with a good (hard to find ) Tai Chi or Aikido class. The techniques for good martial arts movements in those are all based on alignment.

If you wanted a posture "coach"...some people have found a few sessions with practitioners of the Alexander Technique particularly helpful.
