In the spirit of the BGOL Forum opening up the Fitness and Health forum, I decided to hit the gym to get into shape...

After running a hard sweaty 1 mile on the thread mill in about 10 mins (walked part of it as well), I realized that the I had only lost 87 calories?!!

That realization alone makes me think twice before biting into a snickers or downing a pepsi. :smh:

Just letting people out there know the reality.

The realization that it takes an hour to burn off one cookie made me not eat them as much.

One the other hand, grapefruit has negative calories. There ios only 50 calories in it, but your body uses 90 calories to process it.

Just another example where the old saying applies:

"An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure."

True and so this negates the common thing I hear from women especially.

"I worked out today so I can have a treat." :hmm::lol:

True indeed.

I didn't know it was so difficult to burn calories. I remember I had a theory in hs when I learned about how many calories you burned from masturbating. I figured for every soda I had I could masturbate 3-4 times to balance it out.

:smh: I never took into account the slice of pizza I was having everyday...I could probably masturbate every day of my life and never burn that pizza off...:hmm:

O well. One of my many theories...

Keyser,

Props on starting 2008 off healthily and hitting the gym. It's definitely an uphill battle getting started ... but stick with it and check in regularly with the fam' here on the forum. Lots of knowledge from the brothers and sisters who've amassed information over the years. We'll all help you out with tips/suggestions if/when you and others have 'em.

Glad to see that you are starting out 2008 on the positive tip. Don't let the "State of the Union" get you down.
