Looking at the video I can understand both sides. I can see why a cop would shoot in that situation but here is my issue.

The call was someone unresponsive in their car, where was the ambulance? Everyone sleeps, and know you never wake up fully alert, they could easily try the bullhorn and stay away if there was danger.

I'm not sure what they did wrong.

First there's no open carry law in California. There's no reason for dude to openly have a firearm.

Second the dude that called the police stated that he works at taco bell and numerous people already tried to wake McCoy up. They honked at him and knocked on the window. He didn't respond.

Third they didn't go there with the intention to shoot him. They planned to open the door and pull him out while he was out of it. The officer said if he reaches for the gun let him have it. Frankly if someone has a gun next to them and they reach for it im not waiting to see what they plan on doing with it. Last time I checked guns were for shooting.

Fourth how could they wake him up from far away if people already tried honking their horns and knocking his window. That's the whole reason the call was made. They planned to break his glass but the door was open so they decided to use the door just so they wouldn't startle him.

Last of all dude woke up and reached for his gun. What the fuck are you supposed to do at that point? Wait to see if he decides to shoot you or not? It would be different if he woke up and scratched his shoulder then covered his face or put his hands up. He clearly reached for something.
