I'm gonna tend to agree with you. While I love the pure artistry some have accomplished through sampling, the "original work" of the new sampled creation has to be given the majority of the Props!!!
I just think you can't produce something that has already been produced.
Again, I tend to agree. However, at some point [and I'm not trying to change the subject of the discussion], especially with music, the musical notes and even the structure of the musical composition or piece of work have to revert to the "public domain" so new music can be made and enjoyed.
I like this discussion. I'm nominating this to the list until something better knocks it out!!!
Definitely one of the most iconic hip-hop songs ever, but it ain’t even Mobb Deep’s best track, imo.
To this day, this is still one of my all-time faves (nearly 30 years later).
Can't see how you can just pick one as the greatest with all the different eras and regional variations...with that said, there are worse choices...it definitely is an all time great beat

unfortunately due to his death we never got a video, I think that vid would’ve been crazy if you had mad gangs in it , doing their dances, draped in their colors, etc .. they would’ve made that their anthem
