Shannon (an Alabama and Deion dick rider) sounds like a bitch...they (First Take) were all piling on Day and Herbstreit had a right to call them out. I just hate when folks who don't really follow college ball full time comment on it like they are experts...That man is 65-10 and 95% of teams would take him and his staff today !! Is Michigan his achilles heel ? yep...But Harbaugh was getting the same type of stupid convos when he couldn't beat OSU.
You an Ohio State Fan? Cause Kirk and Fowler were also complaining because there were so many Tennessee fans there because OSU fans decided to sit at home. To SAS point, you got the highest paid roster in CFB and you losing to Michigan and you may not make it to the CFP finals. With Michigan winning the National Championship last year, that upped the ante. Thats the case in any rivalry. You think UNC is going to sit around if Duke goes and wins another National Championship in basketball? This is how good rivalries work. Ryan Day is a good coach and I would take him at VT in a minute, but dont get it twisted. The donors there expect more. Are they spoiled? Yes. Could it be much worse? Yes. But they have this expectation and you either rise to it or find another job.

The only teams I hate more than Ohio State are Notre Dame and the Gaytors. I'm a 40 year Miami and College Football fan...I just don't get caught up in the tribalism like most college fans and I can't stand anything other than surface convos with casual fans because 90pct of the time they are ignorant to the sport. Shannon and SAS are casual fans who look at basic numbers and formulate hyperbolic takes off of a small amount of info. Don't try to teach me about the machinations of rivalries, Miami-FSU in the 80's is what brought me to college football and my admiration for the sport only grew the more teams I followed. FSU didn't turn on Bowden when Miami was monkey stopping his ass all through the 80's because he was turning out top 5 teams and flooding the NFL with top notch players. The exact same thing Day is doing at OSU. I can repeat this same thing with Nebraska and Tom Osborne who went through the same thing (was considered a big game choker and finally won a chip in 3 of his last 4 years 94, 95 and 97) and I can name many others...most fans are fickle and overreact to dumb shit...hell, in the pro game Andy Reid was a long time big game choker, and now that he has Mahomes, he's a genius...

80s and 90s...that was a different time. As a VT fan, I know for a fact that Coach Beamer wouldn't have gotten 6 years to begin the turnaround at VT today. As you stated these things take time, but when there is so much money involved, they expect results. Look at how much James Franklin has won. they talking about getting rid of him and Penn State as well. My point is that Ohio state is expecting a National Championship or at least playing in the title game because the roster is supposed to be the best in the nation. Whats the point of winning all of these games, just to know that you're going to lose when you get to the title game or lose to your rival. I would take Ryan Day at VT in a minute, but our expectations are different at VT than OSU and the clock is ticking.

BTW, I think Miami is actually our real rival over UVA. Cross between you all and WVU.

I agree with what you wrote and I really like the fact that PSU has held on to Franklin because that brother has done a hell of a job (big picture), just can't get over the hump. My step-family are all from Akron and Cleveland and they have whined about Day. I give them grief about the Michigan losses but I would take him at Miami, tomorrow !!

side note: it's hard for me to hate Notre Dame right now because of Freeman lol...

FSU is our main rival but VT and UM have had some tough tough games...I really respect the hard natured blueprint that Beamer established and the program he built. He could've left but chose to put VT on the map...I usually root for VT against everyone else but us

I'm glad he went back home to an offense that will feature his talents...with Giddens gone, it will be his show along with the freshman from Haines City, Fl...
He was in ND's class for a hot sec. Wonder how or if they could've utilized him with Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price.
