Here's another....opened not long ago. Older Brother owns it. But he's had a lot of success.
Its right off the corner of 47th and Vincennes. One block East of 47th King Drive.
The food is Fiyah!
Btw, dont let the "hood appearance" fool you, the area may look rough to "outsiders", but the area is actually safe.

Black owned.
never knew they were black owned.
my greatmothers house is on 46th & champlain.
the 1st murder of 2016 was committed half a block away!
actually safe, huh.
Youre typing about Champlain...which is 3-4 blocks away...add another block because u going north to 46th. That corner where that restaurant is located is SAFE......for a few reasons...and this I know this for a fact! Not third party info..... like youre giving me,.
In Chicago.....u can have one block thats completely peaceful....(like where Obamas house is located) .....but then have a shit load of drama literally 3 blocks away. It be like that sometimes.
I worked at Litehouse part time in the last year. I stay right by Remus and Uncle J's. In the last 3 weeks it's been on and popping with shootings between king and cottage. I live off Drexel.Dope thread dude.
I knew about the ones i quoted....but not any of the others.
I knew Bronzeville still had a lot of Black owned businesses, but I didnt know they had all those restaurants.
Thats partly because I dont eat out much.
That Litehouse Whole Food Gril ....thats in my Hood; Hyde Park. They sell some healthy ass burritos made from scratch.
I ordered from them a lot...never knew they were Black owned. Learn something new everyday.
That Uncle Remus that u posted is actually a picture of the new location on 47th and Cottage Grove.
In that new mall complex thing they built on the corner.
That new building has provided a lot of jobs to Black youth in that area.
Back in the dayz...Uncle Remus used to be a "West Side" thing.....but theyve expanded.
That Salaam on 79th has been their for yeeeeeeeaaars. Its not open everyday tho.
I remember when i was a shorty riding the 79th street bus to Ford City Mall....we used to stop by there to pick up some bean pies.
Used to be high as fuck when we ordered...but they stil served us.
The Minister is connected with the joint.
Jokes and Notes is actually a comedy club on King Drive. Ran by Mary and them....
Been there for a loooooong time.
I think its the only Black Comedy club in Chicago....but I could be wrong.
H-Dogs is ran by Dorthy Tillman daughter..I think. Its right across from the Harold Washington cultural center.
That Peaches restaurant in directly across the street.
The LEONS i used to mess with was on 79th street, off stoney island. But they shut that down years ago.

It's a very interesting area and I've lived all over the city. Your right it used to be much worst when there was the all night L store on where Walmart is and the buildings were up on state.Yea...that area around King Drive used to be much worse though. Excluding the recent shootings....a lot of the bs has slowed down since they started building stuff over there. that area used to look real raggedy back in the 90s.
You really dont run into problems until u start going toward the 47th green line.....near Indiana, Michigan, Wabash etc. But thats expected cause thats mainly where young niggas be hangin out. But most times they just be standing around doing nothing....not shooting 24/7.
They about to start building stuff & clean up that area in a few years. From 47th Prairie - 47th State street. Make is safe/presentable so the White folks can move in...lol
