Ex-Steeler coach Cowher's wife dies

Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher on Saturday confirmed the death of his wife at the age of 54.

Kaye Cowher died of skin cancer in her native North Carolina. The death was first reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette late Friday.

The family relocated to Raleigh during Cowher's final year as coach in 2006, not long after the Steelers won the Super Bowl.

Kaye Cowher was a former basketball player at North Carolina State and played in the now-defunct Women's Professional Basketball League. In the pros, she played alongside twin sister Faye.

The Cowhers met at North Carolina State, where Bill played linebacker. They married in 1981.

Bill Cowher stepped down as Pittsburgh coach after 15 seasons and has been working as a football studio analyst since 2007.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters. A private funeral will be held Monday in North Carolina.

that's how it USED to be.

with how things are now, most white folks are being told to wear sunscreen with the highest SPF possible.

don't laugh :lol: but don't be surprised if "slow melanin induction" therapy becomes a reality... giving caucasoids a layer of "natural" protection.

Don't laugh at that shit, everyone, regardless of skin tone is suppose to wear sunscreen everyday (even in winter).

Glad they were able to spend her final days together in a place they both loved.

So-called "natural" skin protection is the equivalent of the WEAKEST sunscreen (SPF 13). The black skin cancer rate is climbing because too many folks like you falsely believe they're safe, and a higher percentage of black sufferers actually die of it because the diagnosis often comes too late.

Very true. And black people die from the deadliest form of skin cancer -- melanoma.
