Very odd decisionThere are worse choices...and yeah, Lauryn had a great album but not enough rap to be on this list...was it their way of making sure a woman made it?...seems like an odd decision
I never liked “Halftime”, but it must just be me.

Agree and the same with Biggie with Ready To Die.All eyez on me is not even 2pacs best album
The way they had some of the order for Outkast was weird too.No way in hell solo albums better than the best group albums
Reasonable Doubt was not even a top 5 album in 1996.Rakim is the goat and Paid N Full is the greatest album of all time.
Without Rakim changing the flow of rap none of the classics exist... especially illmatic.
My Top 10.
1. Paid n Full
2. The Chronic
3. Makaveli
4. 36 Chambers
5. Ready to Die
6. Reasonable Doubt
7. Illmatic
8. The misadventures
9. By any means necessary
10. Doggystyle

A top five rap album of all time that doesn't include Snoop Dogg's doggystyle it's just bullshit. I never got the draw of Nas anyway but I would switch him with Snoop in a fucking heartbeat.I never liked “Halftime”, but it must just be me.
Yeahhh Boyyee..You could listen to this from uptown to downtown with no skips...Thought provoking as well.![]()
Illmatic has always been in the convo.
Always been a masterpiece.
Always been flawless.
At my age I still think of albums in "mic ratings".
There's been a few classic 5 mics albums.
Illmatic is one of those mythical 6 mics albums.
As it should. Both CDs went hard as hell. Shit still slaps.Dam, Biggie's double album made the list.
True, Illmatic didn't blow up commercially like that. It wasn't that kind of album and Nas didn't have that kind of following at the time.Word, the timing of Illmatic, the 5 mics from jump, and how it slowly blew up around the world cemented it in the best hip hop album conversation.
Biggie didn't miss.As it should. Both CDs went hard as hell. Shit still slaps.
