Our Vision

is for businesses in the UK to include Black people at all levels of decision-making in at least the proportion we are represented in Britain itself.

Our Story

Black British Business Awards co-founders Sophie Chandauka MBE and Melanie Eusebe MBE set out in 2014 to create a much needed platform to spotlight exceptional Black talent in the UK. Their aim was to demonstrate that Black talent not only exists in the UK, but that it exists in meaningful numbers. They challenged the notion that the under-representation of Black talent at senior levels in British business was somehow defensible because companies ‘couldn’t find’ Black talent. They decided to find that talent and to shine big bright lights on these exceptional people.
Now every day the Black British Business Awards, along with the support of our partners, campaigns for the equitable representation and inclusion of Black people at decision-making levels of businesses in the UK. For us, campaigning is about creating, leading and participating in change-making courses and forums for British business as well as unapologetically celebrating the achievements of Black professionals in this nation. Our programmes, delivered through sister organisation The Network of Networks (TNON), break down outdated systems, policies and behaviours and help to build new, more inclusive ones.

Now look at their Senior Leadership and Core Team Make up (3 out of 10 are Black) This has to be a joke!

Yeah, that seems about right.

As a consultant who is often part of programming development and legislation to support Black businesses, most boards and organizations that purport to serve diversity and promote Black economic initiatives are often majority-led by individuals and groups that are very far from what we look like and where we come from. SMH...

Shit feels and seems like a guilty conscience exercise to me at times.
