Trump wasn't going away. The people who would vote for him now would vote for him regardless. Without the indictments and Jan 6th committee, there would be no pushback to his lies, his crimes would go unpunished, national security even more compromised because of the documents he had, and even more people than his hard core base would be willing to vote for him. I generally like Bill Burr but eff him.
