Boys of Bukom, Ghana

Bukom is a town too small for a map. But somehow, this tiny, slum village on the coast of Ghana has produced more world champion boxers per capita than anywhere else in the world.

I dunno why they present it like there's just tons of world champs- anyone who knows boxing sees their representatives as just journeymen. Biggip Ghana tho.

Edit: At the start of 18:38, it was a tearjerker moment. But yeah, man, I didn't know this magnitude of champion boxers came out of specifically Bukom, Ghana.

It feels good because a huge part of my ancestry is Ghanaian and boxing has always been my favorite sport.

Now, that I am aware, I'm going to share the knowledge and post this video on my FB.

10 yrs I'll put these young Philly boys up against the best Ghana got...

Yeah, I originally saw this on Facebook. Philly is a reputable boxing town. Seeing the hungriest from both places go toe-to-toe would always be formidable and entertaining.

The 5 world champions they listed arent journeymen Boss....Azumah, Ike Quartey, Clottey...I had no idea all the top Ghanaian boxers came from one place...its pretty amazing

Matter of fact, even to make it to a well known journeyman status from that part of the world isn't easy

And I guess that depends on what you call journeymen. I consider all those guys to be that.

Philly for sure. That's one city and I bet you could narrow it down to one gym. Let's just be real here. African American boxers are the best in the world.

Damn...your standards are real high...Azumah Nelson a journeyman? That's rough...Bukom is remarkable because it's so far from the centers of the boxing universe and was still able to produce a decent number of top quality fighters....of course Philly is better....anybody who argues otherwise would be a fool
