John Brown is legit the only one I could name.
Jane Elliot, Father Michael Phleger, Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner
only ones I can think off the top of my head are John brown, Thaddeus Stevens, Quakers like Benjamin Lay , Viola Liuzzo, the two freedom riders who were killed..
and educators like Jane Elliot and Tim Wise

I think the problem with this is most people in history are forgotten.
I agree with the professor that there have been thousands.
John Brown was the only person named in the video who I ever heard of but that guy who laid down in front of a bulldozer and died seems to have a pretty impeachable case. Or white people who worked with Rosa Parks and MLK.

the need for white acceptance / validation is one of the most powerful things on the planet
This is not about a need for white acceptance.
It's about recognizing heroes-- or people who at least tried-- for their contributions, no matter what they looked like.
I'm validating them, not summoning them for validation of me.
The problem with recognizing the few whites who valiantly stood, and died, in opposition to white supremacy is that it may have the counter effect of causing a Black person to give staunch racist a pass that will be harmful to themselves. The, "Not all white people are racist" novocaine.
It's not few, though. It's thousands. The number who did not was obviously in the millions.
I don't know if John Brown or the white man who got bulldozed opposing racism ever had a racist thought but, functionally, it seems pretty dumb to write them off as racist. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

The number is infantessimal rendering it statistically insignificant. Their history has shown the same behavior no matter the era or geographical location so it doesn’t merit much discussion.

Heres the thing; We as a people ( All non-white people who phenotypically could be classified as Black) don't have the luxury of cherry picking those whites who don't mean us harm. So if they engage in counter-racist actions, good for them. We as a collective should be more focused on correcting the ill behaviors and patterns of thinking which their race instilled in us for us to practice white supremacy on ourselves, on autopilot. One aspect of that is the worship of western culture in any of its fashions. We should reserve our praises until the 'majority' of their collective are engaged in meaningful efforts to eradicate a virus that they created. They have to civilize themselves, and we have to re-civilize ourselves.
The practice of white supremacy is the entirety of their culture. Hell, they even practice it among themselves. So we should learn to let whites be who they are and for us to get back to being the people we need to be for the sake of the Greater Spirits.
Also highlighting fact that these people and many others like them existed can diminish the bullshit reason that "teaching this history makes white kids feel bad".
Why are they assuming the kids automatically identify with the demonic oppressors on the wrong side of history as opposed to the few engaged in the fight for liberation?

I must add; Have you ever personally witnessed what happens to a white person that stands alone for a Black person? It aint pretty. If I come across a white person who wants to stand up in representing me I tell them not to do so. I got it.

- To the Freedom Riders of the Civil Rights era.
- To modern day anti-racist, social justice advocates.
And for you to suggest that their efforts, the dangers they put themselves in, their sacrifices and their standing arm in arm with Black people during our ongoing struggles for freedom, justice and equality is of no significance is still what we know it is...a falsehood.
