A quarter of Sudan's population, some 10 million people, are considered internally displaced after the start of the war more than a year ago.
Today, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court asked for collaboration from civil society and national and international authorities to collect as much information as possible on war crimes in Sudan.
"The terrible events in Western Darfur are among our top investigative priorities. Furthermore, I am extremely concerned by allegations of widespread international crimes being committed in and around El Fasher," the prosecutor said.
He also commented on a "widespread use of rape and other forms of sexual violence", and "systematic" attacks on civilian areas and hospitals.
"Civilians are being attacked and killed because of the color of their skin, because of their ethnicity, because of who they are," especially against the Masalit tribe.
