Comedy Debate: Marlon Wayans Passed On Tiffany Haddish Because She Did 'Too Much'

mike funny to me but yea i agree she does way to much and it was cool the first few times but it got old mad fast.shes not funny to me.

I found Tiffany haddish funny in girls trip, but her stand-up was not funny at all. I don't know if I cracked a smile. Sometimes some comedians just aren't funny to a lot of people. Mike Epps isn't funny to me so I don't blame Marlon Wayans 1 bit

but they KILLING Marlon for hating on the black woman.

From the “Scary Movie” franchise to “White Chicks,” the Wayans family has been behind some of the biggest comedies of the last three decades. In a new interview, youngest brother Marlon Wayans has taken the time to explain to funny lady Tiffany Haddish why she never quite made it past the audition process.

During her guest-hosting spot on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Haddish asked the “On The Rocks” actor why she was never cast in any Wayans-produced projects, even remembering one that called for a “Tiffany Haddish type.”

“I know we friends and I know you love me. I love you,” she said. “You have helped me in so many different aspects in life, gave me some great advice. But this what I want to know. I have auditioned for so many of your movies, your family. Why do I never get cast?”

“Me and my family always say you’re funny,” Marlon responded with a smile. “As producers, you hire and cast people. You were always funny, but you were always on 10. And sometimes you just be inappropriate.”

“It’s like a love scene, and you want to sit on the actor’s lap and fart,” he further explained. “And it’s like ‘no Tiffany,’ it’s not for this scene.’ So, it was maturation that [had to] hit you.

“It’s like, for me even, right now I feel like I’m ready. I’ve been preparing 30 years for what’s happening to me now,” he went on. “It all happens to you at a certain time when maturity and that stardom hits you. Never nothin’ personal. We love you. Always thought you was funny. Me and my family, we proud of you.”

Tiffany is already doing behind the camera work, and she's not just looking to tell jokes on stage. Give her a few years, note she's already in production,

Look that kid that played Urkel got turned down by Cosby. Cosby wanted to cast him as Theo. Turned out he had too much personality, they couldn't use him. Sometimes its about timing.

This dumb ass divisive feminist dog whistle bullshit.
This story only exists to condemn The Wayans Bros. and try to garner unnecessary sympathy for Tiffany Haddish on some "men are screwing women over" shit.
Many people audition for roles. Bitch didn't get it; she didn't get it. Somebody got it.
Casting directors don't listen to public opinion because the public doesn't know shit.
They pick people that they think will fit the role.
In comedic foils, you don't have two "straight men/women" or two "funny men/women"; you have one of each so that they play off of each other. Marlon plays the clown in his movies. Tiffany plays the clown. Two clowns don't usually work. Somebody has to be the yin to the yang. Somebody has to be the serious one. If he is starring in the movie, she ain't getting cast as the co-star.
Somebody got the job, though. Most likely, somebody black, too.

thisis some dumbshit.. I mean.. marlon wayans is not the person to be the judge of doing too much. Regardless of how you feel about THaddish for marlon wayans to say it is too much, is the definition of Too much. This conversation is too much, my response is too much. Having a discussion about doing too much is too much.

I think this was too much.

His example of her doing too much was overlooked and I think it needs to be revisited. He said she would sit on people's laps and fart.

Under the #metoo climate that's a time bomb waiting to explode. You can't work around someone who doesn't understand boundaries like that. Especially when it's you're own shit that you built that's at risk of being torn down because they may feel some kind of way years later and want to come forth with another version of the story.

I'm sorry she was too extra to be around even in a comedic workplace. After the director says cut you have to turn that silly shit off. If it ain't a part of the script then sitting in people's laps on company time is a recipe for nothing good happening.

Then you throw in the fact that when she was 16 she was trying to throw herself at his older brother and had a so what attitude about it when he said it wasn't cool in the interview. Do you trust this type of person with your money making machine?

^^^^^^

So, is this the new shit? Celebrities outing other celebrities because they didn't get a part?
Show business is not the place for sensitivity. Females are trying to "victim" their way to the top.

This feels a little like that Mark Walhberg-Michelle Williams controversy from a couple of years back.
Her people used the pay discrepancy ploy when it was actually a contract issue where Wahlberg's contract had a no reshoots clause and hers didn't. When they kicked Keven Spacey off the movie, they had to pay Mark to reshoot while Michelle was already locked in and, Mark had a hand in bringing in Kevin's replacement.
Michelle's people played the feminist wage gap card and Wahlberg ended up donating his salary from the movie.
This feels a little like that but different.
These chicks trying to get all of the men out of the industry are gonna wake up to no industry at all soon.
Its already hard with covid. Feminism ain't funny and don't make money.

When these broads change their looks to be more masculine - beware!

And Marlon's stupid ass answered the question of "why didn't you hire...?"
You're never supposed to answer that. Big mistake on his part.
Now he's got to spend money to circumvent this mess.
