I think there are people out there, that unconsciously make the world more dangerous, by not wanting to implement systems to help out people that have problems. It feels like it's back to politics with people not wanting to do something, because it doesn't align with their side.
Consider this...my employer will pay for a vasectomy. Straight up 100% covered. Why? Because one operation is keeping an unknown amount of kids off the insurance.
This problem that has us in a stalemate. People will vote against helping people in need, because they don't want to waste the tax dollars...but they'll spend those tax dollars on putting police in dangerous situations, just to settle down those angry poor folk.
