In fact, it goes deeper than that, because they don't even have to believe that it is fake. Just the argument that it could be is enough for them to hunker down and troll the universe.

It's scary really ... especially when you think about ALL of the lives that get derailed in peoples' retirement years.


My dad's sister (mid-70s) is great. She reads all types of stuff and stays up-to-date with news stories, etc. She's always been interested in articles on fraud / scammers, and will occasionally send emailed news stories about "red flags" she spots in scam stories.


I wish more seniors were like her. IF something is fishy or suspicious, email or call the bank or company directly, or better yet - go there (bank / financial institution) in person. Don't get pressured over the phone or email. Fuck that noise.
