Honestly I can’t even dispute what they are saying. They are 1000% correct. What Colorado did this past recruiting cycle absolutely can’t happen again. Signing 5 recruits and having the 99 rated recruiting class is malpractice.
In two years, dude signed 17 receivers. Now if I have counted correctly, the Buffs have 20 receivers on the roster now. How is that even possible..lol

They signed that center from IMG too. as a preferred walk on per the reporting I saw. I am curious about the story behind that. The kid is a 3 star and had other offers. It is my opinion that CU had enough scholarships to get him, and that he chose to be a walk on. If so, why? That is a story that needs reporting. It might demonstrate a level of commitment to a program that we have never seen. A 3 star walk on? The Big 12 should take note.
Here are my numbers and I may be off by just a hair.
The buffs had 20 scholarships available. Between the transfer portal and high school recruits they signed 20.
They did play under the 85 scholarship number last year so they do have the ability to backfill some scholarships to 2023 with early enrollment.
3 recruits this year will do early enrollment so they won’t count towards the 20 in this class of scholarships.
If my numbers are correct they only have maybe 6 slots left. If you save room for the February signing day and spring portal then they did not have a scholarship available for him
Sometimes their grades are awesome, in those cases they can qualify for an academic scholarship.
I think Kaleb Mathis and Jeremiah Brown falls under this.

Looking at the roster, the Buffs will need to clear some space. The wide receiver room has 20 players. I think 17 are on scholarship.
This is too many and I anticipate players moving on. This will open up more spots for possible players who will enter the portal after spring ball

Unfortunately this may get him fired. Some of the top recruiting sites have written some scathing articles about their class. People are taking notice.
It is hard to defend because signing a class of 5 recruits is unthinkable. Prime put all his chips in this 2024 season and if he doesn’t win, the heat he faces will be severe.
I personally don’t like this strategy but we will have to see how it plays out.

Coach Prime needs this to happen. It would allow the Buffs to get rid of dead weight from last years transfer portal.
About 10 to 15 players needs to walk and this would allow for that to happen freeing up much needed scholarships

I mentioned back in early October I was worried about this recruiting class. We know how the game is played with Black men and I knew the sharks would start circling and the wolves sniffing around.
As much as I would love to defend Coach Prime, I can’t defend only signing 5 recruits. That would even put Nick Saban on the hot seat.

I love how they pretend it’s about the education when the minute you get let go from the team your scholarship is gone. If they gave a fuck about the kids’ education they would guarantee that scholarship regardless. This is just another extension of colleges trying exert control over players. Pre-NIL bullshit has nothing to do with education. Credits are credits.

I think it’s been two years on a row where players who choose to sign with Colorado couldn’t. They did it via portal and wasn’t able because credit didn’t match up…
I heard folks saying Colorado was a Ivy League west type of institution.
Can’t count out the few players from Last year either…. the Freshman center wasn’t horrible and I’m sure Tyler Brown will get a shot to compete

This has no benefit to the player. NIL was about the players taking control of their image to benefit their income. This conversation is no different. It’s the same lame “about the education“ argument they used to say NIL is not good. I’m not hearing shit else until they guarantee those educations they care so much about.
