For work I know most you dudes who do IT have to fix windows and so forth but this Dell Machine is literally brand new and keeps crapping out.

Bluetooth disconnects (bluetooth keyboard) and I gotta power reset this thing twice a week.

I remember when dell was much better but it seems these pre builds are just not that good.

I don't wanna do a fresh install since this is 100% legit from the factory (windows 10 home)

but man o man, this thing is a headache.

Might take this stimulus and buy a MAC but I don't see Apple in the workforce heavy unless it's for a specific use.

Linux isn't something that I'll use daily as a OS for basic use.

Make sure you have the latest Dell Command updates installed.

What version of Windows 10 are you running?

This is the most recent - Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.867)

To see your Windows Version number, in the lower left type
winver in the search box and hit enter.

Usual suspects/easy shit til it works:

1) Uninstall mouse driver/software and then reinstall mouse/software
2) New Logitech bt mouse/new batteries
3) Clean install Win10 and start fresh

This is the ultimate can of worms especially on here.

I use Macs for work and home. I made the switch after dealing with similar issues as you with a Toshiba laptop and ended up just buying a G4 powerbook. This was all 15+ years ago and I haven't fucked with a PC since. :smh::lol:

You can get an Air/13" Pro for around $1,500 with the m1 processor and apple care and not have to worry about shit for a while. I have a newer work MBP and a newer personal MBP but my daily personal email/browsing computer is still an i7 MBP from 2012.

It is all personal preference, but I prefer the aesthetics of Macs and like OS X way more than Windows or Chrome OS.

I did one already but i t comes back, basically the bluetooth driver shuts down and it's needs to be power cycled to get it working again.

The point in buying a dell is not having to go through all that :roflmao:

It's under warrantly till Fed 22, I called dell already and they assisted over chat and fixed the issue.

Computer kinda sucks though to be honest but it's my desktop.

I reinstalled the bluetooth drivers and so forth, will download the latest Dell command software.

Apparently, Dell's quality control has been shit for a while now. I know folks who've also had issues with the Bluetooth and/or wifi with their Dell. Plenty of youtube reviewers have had complaints too.

I have a M1 MBP. The battery life is incredible, but I prefer Windows when trying to do a lot of multitasking. Plus it's a little annoying to only have thunderbolt ports on one side.

If you just need to do basic things, Linux could work. But it could be a problem if you require certain programs. Plus it requires a lot more effort to do more complex things.

Having said all of that, I have a Samsung laptop that's still going strong.

You can take just about any PC and make it a little more secure and reliable with Linux. On the other hand, for what 90% of people do a Chromebook or Chromebox is more than sufficient. Chrome Devices also run a flavor Linux but you don't have to do anything. Generally speaking for most people Macs and Windows systems are overkill. In your case make sure you have updated everything including your Bios and the drivers for your system. If you do still want to get another system Get a chrome device just to try it out. You won't need to blow the entire Stimulus Check on it. You can get Chromeboxes off Amazon by Asus, Acer, and HP for between $249-$500 depending on memory, CPU, and storage options. The same is true for Chromebooks. Microcenter and Bestbuy also sell them.

so up...

I put linux on my desktop

i5-10400
1660super
32ram
512ssd

no issues but some hardware issues (motherboard is MSI)

Computer can't shut off at times, only sleep option works

No OneDrive as expected it's a MS product, so trying to use Dropbox

But I might need a windows crack but I didn't pay for the access so I can't access most BGOL only the main board.

So I was considering Linux Mint and looking if it's more hardware capatible as opposed to Unbuntu

You don't need to crack windows anymore, download from the microsoft website, it will work without activation forever with a few customization limitations.
