I think we can all agree this is some sucka shit. The worst thing about all of this?
In my opinion. Drake (I believe) signed a 360 deal for a shit load of money. The problem? They had to get their money back so they refused to release the copyright on Drake’s shit. Kendrick didn’t get hella money upfront (like Drake) but had control over his shit through a licensing deal. He had the power to release the copyright and allow influencers to make money.
Sounds more like someone had to drop and give ‘em 100 and now he is pissed.
Also, Drake got Jerry Heller as his lawyer…lol. He allowed him to throw too much against the wall without checking the lawsuit.

Second. This should be a clear enough case to see that the powers that B (in this case the streaming companies) are in prime position to benefit the greatest over "rap beef". They benefit over death destruction and defamation. We need to stop participating in these slave fights. They are secretely instigating the fight from both sides and promoting the division. Also like wrestling they can manipulate the outcome. They monetized rap beef and we just keep dancing for em.

And those same people reacted to Drake's spreading his accusations about Kendrick. Drake is a pop artist who makes pop songs, Kendrick is a popular artist who doesn't make music that's intended to appeal to the masses like Drake does. Nor does he attach himself on a regular basis to anyone with a buzz to maintain relevancy like Drake does.
And apparently Kendrick's deal, a licensing agreement with UMG, allows him to maintain copyright over his songs so the decision to not hit reactors with copyright strikes would have to come from him and not UMG.
Drake can use this to get out of his deal but he's also harming his reputation in the process
That's Kendricks problem. He wants to be the guy but the type of music he does isn't going to get him there. Drake has his lane and Kendrick has his but he's not content with that. Artists who collabed with Drake using him as a feature was their biggest song. Nobody was being used. They got exposure behind it. If he needed them why are his albums still successful?? Certified Lover Boy, Fir all The Dogs, Her Loss are still doing more numbers than artists who dropped last year. Drake ain't drop no albums all 2024. If you was trying to get almost a billion dollars from the label in negotiations you wouldn't file a lawsuit after they intentionally interfered in a rap battle so they could decrease your value and you end up not getting what you were owed?? Drakes reputation is only being harmed on social media to people who don't like his music. The real world numbers aren't backing up the claim. I don't deal with hearsay, emotions and what people are saying on social media I only deal with facts.
Quick question. Why would UMG want to dim his light? They gave Drake, from my understanding, a ton of money for his catalogue, new music and merchandising. The whole point is that they gave him money because they felt they could make even more money/return on investment. I never understand this angle. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s business. Drake wants a billion, they need to make a billion plus to justify it.
Kendrick generates less revenue, doesn’t tour as much, puts out music less and doesn’t have a Nike deal to eat off of. Why would UMG back Kendrick, especially if they have less control of his music and presumably have less ROI on his shit than Drake.
It seems like they loss money off Drake losing this battle. I don’t know if he has a 360, but I definitely saw his Nike shoes and clothing line go double wood. That definitely hurt folks.
Finally. What is he owed? He got several hundred millions upfront right? Then the label recoups. If he is owed something, he should sue for what he is owed. If he wants a new deal worth a billion, he either negotiates the deal with UMG, negotiates with another corp or goes independent.
