FOOD: Millions of pounds of meat are being recalled. Here's what to look for in your fridge

This really affects people who don’t cook the meat all of the way people, beef and chicken, especially beef cook well done to be on the safe side for a minute. I always cook my beef. Well done. I hate to see pink only like to see pink with big booty women that’s the only pink I like to see

I don't think I can eat a streak well done.

You not alone.

I don't think I could do it. But I also don't eat red meat like that anymore
Well, a lot of Black people like their steak well done there’s a few who like it medium, rare or just medium. But with all these recalls going on with meat, I think it’s best to cook your meat thoroughly.

You are 100% right

I gotta stop that even if it's a special occasion

It's funny how times have changed. When I was growing up, it was white people who use to say that. Everyone I know had all their food cooked all the way through. Shit, they even washed the rice. I can't shake those habits, plus food taste better to me well done and tender. Low and slow, can cut it with a spoon.

I also rinse and soak in lime juice or apple cider vinegar so I know I'm in the minority. I just don't trust processing plants enough.

lol beef wasn't even on the list at all. They had salads on there how you gonna cook that. Also, People do not get sick from undercooked beef. You can eat beef raw and be ok. Undercooked chicken pork yes. But that too is just because we process it in fucked up facilities. It's not the meat it's the dirty ass facilities where we cut it up.

If people got sick off rare steak we would have thousands of breakouts daily but we don't because RARE STEAK DOES NOT GET YOU SICK.

I wash and soak my chicken for a few minutes before I cook it and I make sure it’s done Black people when it comes to poultry make sure the meat is supremely done. Also see what you want about Waffle House but you really never hear about food poisoning at that place because they cook their food thoroughly.

BrucePac is history...don't worry they will be re-incorporated with some other off tha wall name before tha last victim is found. RIP

Bro, did you even read the article? the very first sentence says it's ready to eat and pre-cooked poultry. This is proteins in things like pre-made salads, wraps, pasta bowls, burritos, enchiladas and many other ready-made frozen and family meals that might be purchased and immediately consumed or heated up in a microwave. People who don't cook their meat all the way have absolutely nothing to do with this.

No, I am speaking in general. There has been a lot of recalls on different types of meats lately not just was in that article so I’m being general with my comment.

Just a few days ago I was telling my oldest son that a lot of the Arab deli's were Italian delis when I was a child. Back then the bread was made fresh daily and the amount of meat and cheese placed on rolls or hero bread was greatly respectable and filling. Then as time went by Puerto Ricans bought those shops from the Italians. The meat and cheese amount was cut by half or more from what the italians had been selling and the bread was no longer baked fresh daily. Then the Arabs bought those delis from the Hispanics. The meat is even less than the Hispanics offered and no the bread isn't baked fresh daily. So If and when we want sandwiches made from cold cuts we buy the rolls, cheese and cold cuts from Berkley & Jenson or Sams Club or Costco. Then make the sandwiches ourselves. They're great for traveling. I sent my son back to Atlanta with about 8 sandwiches his grandma made him.

Several high-profile food recalls have occurred this year. On that list: A deadly listeria outbreak among Boar's Head deli meat and an investigation into cucumbers contaminated with salmonella. Even before the Boar's Head recall, a Gallup poll found Americans' confidence in the government's ability to ensure a safe food supply had sunk to a record low.

  • Food recalls fell sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they are now rising. The Food and Drug Administration says 1,908 products were recalled in the fiscal year that ended in September — the highest since 2019.
  • Day-to-day food handling habits can help to limit the risk of foodborne illness, says Linda Harris, a food scientist at the University of California, Davis.
  • Rinsing fresh, raw vegetables and fruit under running water can help remove microorganisms from the surface.
  • The CDC says in the U.S., 31 pathogens — bacteria, viruses and parasites — have been commonly linked to foodborne hospitalizations and deaths. The three bacteria that cause the most hospitalizations and deaths each year are salmonella, listeria monocytogenes and E. coli.

Facts. Fresh made bread makes a huge different. Half of what makes any good sandwich is the bread. Same thing with pizza and pasta. Most of the pizza in the Northeast is made from fresh dough. Pasta from the best italian restaraunts is all fresh made. Some people like dry pasta over fresh but most dried pasta they add enriching agents to make it shelf stable for longer.
