This is the most important part. Most good coaches were bottom of the barrel players. They learned the game.Just hope these dudes are able to be great teachers…… just so they can establish the staying power
Not none of that one and done Shittt, take this shit over and this is a start

It's very rare that great players make great coaches because great players had natural talent and they can't comprehend players not being able to do the shit that they did naturally and they struggle to teach those who can't pick it up.
It's frustrating.
Deion Sanders is the exception to the rule, and I don't think he's really that great of a coach. And let's see how he does the next couple years without his son at QBthat dude in Colorado is an exception
Great player, great translator and greater Motivator
Not if things continue to work out for him that’s another story
Absolutely nothing in DeSean Jackson's background says coach
It's legit men who have worked on the sidelines as assistant and position coaches who deserve jobs
I saw him recently on a podcast and like you say, nothing screamed coach young black men.
That being said, I was watching the news and saw a guy and nothing screamed POTUS.
I support Coach Jackson, and wish him the best.
Carry on……
that's what derailed Magic Johnson when he briefly coached the lakers. i think he realized this, and never coached again if i recall correctly. This is the most important part. Most good coaches were bottom of the barrel players. They learned the game.

The first thing he should do is call Ed Reed for advice, and whatever Ed Reed tell him to do, do the opposite.Absolutely nothing in DeSean Jackson's background says coach

I hear ya hometeam... But I wouldnt group the two. I didnt hear much criticism of the Vick hire here. But DJ, on its face, looks like a horrible decision. Ive just never seen him display any attribute i would want out of a HC of young men. I even recently heard him on one of those shitty ex-player podcast complaining about how coaches wanted to hold him accountable.Trent Dilfer got hired at UAB with ZERO HC experience, but Vick/Desean get HC jobs, the world is about to end.....Funny
I am curious to know who he will add to his staff, but this hire I believe from following HBCU Sports, is about trying something different....
Delware State is at the bottom of the MEAC and has hired the "traditional HC" for several years. Why not go out the box and hire a non traditional coach....
The MEAC has the largest amount of student athletes from the state of California in football compared to all other HBCU conferences...
Same as Norfolk State despite having the largest stadium in the entire MEAC...When you are always at the bottom, sometimes you have to do something outside of the box and take a risk to see if you change things around....
More maybe at play with the MEAC preparing to re-up on their media rights as well....
It's funny to see people make comments online that don't even follow HBCU Sports at all with this hire and the Vick hire....

1000% agree cuz.I hear ya hometeam... But I wouldnt group the two. I didnt hear much criticism of the Vick hire here. But DJ, on its face, looks like a horrible decision. Hope he does well. Somehow Hue Jackson failed and he had experience. Deion did coach High school. I wish DJANGO. Errrr.. Ed Reed would have kept his job. Maybe HBCUS can attract and keep more talent now.
Trent Dilfer was a high school coach from 2019 - 2022 and was very successful

Trust and believe a lot of schools wanted him.I'd back a whole truck of money for Teddy Bridgewater.
