Funimation Audio Leak Sparks Controversy, Will It Impact Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot?

Anime company Funimation is currently the #1 trend on Twitter after inappropriate recording sessions were leaked online. These recording sessions included the voices of Dragon Ball Z voice actors making homophobic remarks, as well as incest and sexual jokes. The Funimation audio leaks come while the company is in the midst of a legal battle with voice actor Vic Mignogna, who it cut ties with after reports of sexual misconduct.

It remains to be seen how the Funimation audio leaks may impact the company's business moving forward, especially as it seems to have upset some Japanese voice actors who have been actively tweeting about it. However, something else to consider is how it may impact English dubs of video games, like the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot game, for instance.

Since Goku voice actor Sean Schemmel is the one who confirmed that the Buu Saga will be in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, it's safe to assume that at least some of the English voice lines have already been recorded for the game, and if not, that an English dub is at least in the works. However, Schemmel is one of the individuals involved in the controversy, with one of the leaked Funimation audio clips featuring him using a homophobic slur multiple times.

Scandals like these have seen companies cut ties with actors in the past, though Bandai Namco's response remains to be seen. If the English voice lines have already been recorded for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, then it seems unlikely that Bandai Namco will re-record all of the lines with a different voice actor, as that would be a potentially expensive undertaking. However, depending on how big this controversy becomes, the backlash may force Bandai Namco's hand and see it attempt to replace Schemmel and the other voice actors in the recordings.

At the time of this writing, neither Funimation nor any of the voice actors in the audio leaks have released any statements. It's unclear at this point how the industry will handle the situation, and if anyone will be replaced in any English dubs of anime or video games like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

:dunno:

Yeah I don't know what you are talking.. this doesn't have anything to do with anything gay. This is about Funimation voice actors getting caught on tape joking around and saying xrated shit while doing their Dragonball Z voices. This story is growing. This could lead to a brand new dude voicing Goku.. A dude that has been voicing a character that around when this board was created. I was in college when Dragon ball Z dropped on Cartoon Network.

This is like the Dude who voices Homer getting Metoo'd.

Man Goku's voice actor (Sean Schemmel) is about to get #metoo'd to oblivion.

Man he is getting that work....

Jesus... I hope this goes away over the weekend. I can't imagine anyone else voicing Goku and he was just messing around..

But yeah the gays are not going let this go. Especially since alot of them are huge anime fans.

I can't do this today. I saw something about this the other day, but I so busy it didn't register what it was fully. Damn near all of the voice actors at dino nation are taking L's. They need summon Sherron for real.

Only way he can save himself is if he comes out as gay. lol

And who is the snitch that released this?
