i say the same thing. i want rap to sound regional. i want to hear new york rap. midwest rap, east coast west coast. houston, there was nothing wrong with regional sounding rap music.Its fucked up to even have to choose being from the midwest cuz we had access to all of it. If I had to choose, I'd roll with the horns/Pete Rock era only cuz of my affinity to jazz music but I fucked with G Funk way heavy back then.
It sucks cuz now all rap sounds like trap music. No region has a distinct sound anymore. It says a lot when one of the top rappers is a Canadian nigga that raps with a drawl.
I like both but G-Funk stood the test of time better.

The Bomb Squad and the 45King ran those horns, man. Go play some Public Enemy. Then play some Latifah. Then follow the flavor unit. Then dip into some early Premier. I didn't have to mention Marley Marl.
