I think people are getting caught up on the word "Mad". Dany wasnt insane or anything but she was mentally "unstable" for a good while.
It worked for her over in Essos because every seemingly unstable action she took worked out for her positively.

Reneg on deal and Burn Slave master: Gain thousands of soldiers.
Go in and undue the slave economy of a whole country: Gain an entire city to rule
Burn up a bunch of Khals instead of just leaving with Jorah and Dario : Gain all of the Dothraki as followers.
Then she gets to Westeros ...
Goes against her lifelong desire to regain the throne and does the honorable thing to help defeat the greater threat. The result?
1. She loses half her forces and a dragon and most of her "allies" are actively conspiring against her.
2. She learns she's not first in line to Throne shes been after half her life.
3. She loses all her truly loyal companions
4. She loses yet another dragon
5. Now even her closest remaining advisors are actively conspiring against her.
6. The last man she actually loved basically rejects her physically.
So no she didnt go Mad. She was a mentally unstable person who took too many Ls in a row.
Were the actions she took excessive and overkill? Probably but they are not totally inconsistent with her previous actions and words. She said in the same episode that She was prepared to liberate future generations not the current one.
In her own head she was hearing Mike Ehrmentrauts speech from Breaking Bad. No Half Measures this time.

What character development? He was always a family first incestuous knight.. All of his redeemable virtues and acts were motivated by saving his family.. Even when Joffrey dies in season 4 they set a hard reminder that he is all about family and fucking Cersei. He rapes her in front of his sons dead body.
They were blindsided. There were a fleet of shit with aimed scorpions and they let them all launch once the dragons game in viewshot.
I’m trying to understand why Kats are making excuses for lazy writing. Great shows can have shitty seasons and rushed endings. I’ve been quiet this entire season... I just wanted to sit back and watch but as I watched last nights show... I kept saying that.. this doesn’t make sense. That this is rushed... the show really needed a 10 episode final season.
The season is rushed, but what you’re calling lazy writing, i.e. Danaerys burning the city was being setup for at least 5 years now. The hints were all there. That’s not lazy. It was up to you if you wanted to believe the hints or not.
Like there are so many ways they could have shown dany flip..
1. The bells ring... she flies to kill Cersi... she sees people on the ground and what looks like swords.. she thinks they are soldiers and she burns them... she realizes that she just killed the people she swore to protect.. she hears the screams of children and then she just accepts it.
2. The bells ring.. she looks down at the people expecting them to cheer her for freeing them and the people throw shit at her.... they boo her. They hit her in the head and then she snaps.
But the Superman 3... anger snap just doesn’t work for me.

Jamie pushed a kid off a building for Cercei. Killed his cousin for Cersei. Raped Cersei in front his sons corpse. Nearly started a war with Dorne to appease Cersei... Constantly told us he would do anything to end up with Cersei. When he hears Cersei and his unborn child is about to die he returns to Cersei and cats are outraged.

The 100 is my second favorite show and in that thread... I admit that season 3 had major problems. It was lazy and was better then that.

Now, if the writers follow the paths they put in place, this final episode, Danaerys claims the iron throne, demands fealty from all the kingdoms. Sansa refuses. Danaerys makes her intentions of taking Winterfell known, forcing Jon to action to save her and there by fufilling his destiny.
Explain that scene. I remember them talking bout it but not in her scenes
He never came to winterfell to break from Cersei. He said “I took an oath to fight for the living, and I intend to keep it”. He never said he was done with Cersei. And once the war against the dead was over, he was always going back.

For those talking about her going mad all you have to do is watch from the beginning they are literally playing all the voices in her head at the same time from the beginning of the show. Then the show comes on and her hair is frazzled. She’s already mad at that point.
I don’t have a problem with her burning the city that angle was developed. She said she had to go with fear. Those people had she done what was suggested may have loved her but not feared her. Plus with all that wildfire it shows that Cersei didn’t give a fuck about them either I’m cool with that.
I’m not even mad that Cersei had no backup plan. As I’ve said 10 times in this thread when y’all were giving her so many props. Every plan she had that worked was orchestrated by a smarter man. Even the wildfire was Qyburn idea.
I am mad that there was no final confrontation. Like Dany hovering on Dragon looming Cersei in her eye telling her it’s over or something.
Jamie somehow surviving all those stab wounds was bullshit. Spare me the story on that.
The Mountain all of a sudden going rouge was kind of weird but understandable because sometimes robots go awry.
Arya giving up a 5 season long quest that easily seemed kind of a weak character turn because she’s been the complete opposite for so long now.
That ending for Jamie for Cersei was just bad. I don’t want the hear of that foreshadowing and “That’s the GOT Way” nah that was just bad writing. That was a bullshit cliche love story death.

You can say the writing was bad. I won’t argue. But his major arguement was he thought Dany was good and her showing a dark side is lazy. When it’s the culmination of her arc. You may not like it, but it didn’t come out of nowhere.

as much action tv as you watch you have to know that hitting a fast moving target through the air that knows you are gunning for them from a stationary point on the ground/sea is alot different than hitting a lackadaisical moving target floating in the air that does not know you are there.
Tyrion was begging her not to burn the entire city for two episodes and she only begrudgingly, half heartedly agreed. Tyrion said you’d be killing thousands of innocents and she said it would actually be better for future generations if she did.
Tyrion told her the army would not fight once the battle was lost and the people wouldn’t support Cersei after the war. Did she say, “I pray you’re right Tyrion. I don’t want innocent people to die”?
