German man finds porn after scanning expired Heinz ketchup QR code
A Heinz bottle squirted out a little more than just ketchup for a German man.
Daniel Korrel actually scanned a QR code on the back of the bottle only to find that the company’s promotional link had expired. The maze of black and white squiggles instead led to a website for porn, he informed the condiment manufacturer.
“Your ketchup is probably not for minors,” Korrel wrote in a Facebook message translated to English.
He added a winky face emoji to illustrate the good nature of his discovery.
The code no longer links to a very not-safe-for-work site with pictures of nude women. Heinz regrets the error, a spokesperson who also arranged the delivery of another bottle of ketchup told Korrel.
The “erotic portal” run by Fun Dorado also chimed into the stream of Facebook comments and offered Korrel a year’s access to their website.
Korrell declined.
“There is no need,” he added. “I would be glad if you would instead donate the equivalent to a non profit organization.”
The bottle of ketchup itself does not expire until 2016.
