Haiti have a sweet spot in my heart.
I haven’t looked deep into roots, but word is my ancestors land here by way of Haiti from Kenya…
Back in those days, them folks kept that on the low. During the burial preparation for my great grandmother, the question was asked “what’s her birth location?
One of the older kids said here in Louisiana…then a younger child said, “That’s not right mama said she from Gosha”. The funeral person looked at them like wtf is going on. Especially with her last name being it was.
I guess laws limited certain services to migrants, slaves or whatever one was labeled.
Haiti have plenty of turmoil but a ton of beauty…
