Why give this person the power to dictate when and with whom you visit. Ever thought about say....arrive earlier than the person in question and visit for a while after they arrive then make your exit. You can always have a "something" to do.

nah.....my family is extremely close....no matter what strife may occur, we never get off the phone or leave each others house without a "i love you"....u never know if its the last time you'll hear from em. so i enjoy my family reunions and get togethers.

I have not and will not. That is being a child. How you gonna overcome your fear/problem if you don't face it. That's how I look at it. If there's not going to be any food and really really really distant fine female members, they are so distant down the family tree you barely have proof that they are related to you, I'm still going but I'm not attending in full swag gear.

yup. don't intend to stop either. In my case its my cousin who was on some snake shit after my pops died. My nephew and niece and my half sister who were on some snake shit b4, during and after my dad's fight with illness. And my older half brother who wanted to kill me for being born bc his mother was a whore and my dad left.
I'm good without those ppl even if it means cutting off that entire side of my family.

My brothers are kinda like that...both are low-lifes who have stolen from family,took years off our mother's life.
I hardly speak to them,other that to say get the fuck away from me....
So last Summer when I hosted our family reunion,I was gonna have to make a choice...try to treat them like human beings,or bury them in the woods behind my house.
I knew they were gonna come...free meal,free booze.
You know the type,don't bring shit,don't contribute in any way...but be the first in line with the biggest plates,and drink the most.
So,I put my checkbook upstairs...and to honor my mother's memory,I was civil to them.

I have avoided my father and mother since 2005. I have not seen nor spoken to them since. I avoid all family gatherings since then. They come Atlanta and visit my kids with my ex and don't even bother coming to see me. I hear that they been in town for a week after the fact.
Ever since I ousted them from my life I've been at peace and very happy.....wait. No. they are the ones that ousted me after I got a divorce...they took her side.
I did not know I was unhapppy for 34 years of my life. I did not know I was depressed and had personal and emotional mental issues until I got rid of my Dad. He is very controlling and manipulative and I found myself being the same way towards my kids. Now that I recoginized that I have changed course and now I'm happy and I treat my kids much different. I dare say that I feel like super Dad and now internally I have figured out what being a Father is supposed to be about by doing the opposite of what he did.
My other family understands my stand cause they know how he is. They give me the heads up when they know he wont be around. Maybe one day I will see him but right now I'm cool. Sometimes you just have to remove the bad elements from your life and just cause somebody donated egg and sperm does not mean they are good for you.
And yes, I already thought about it. If he dies tomorrow..so be it.

- Sick

- Has other plans
