Naya Rivera Says Showering Daily Is "Such a White People Thing," Viewers Freak Out on Social Media

No, Naya, no! Naya Rivera shared a rather controversial theory about people's hygienic tendencies while guest-hosting The View on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and the Internet is not reacting well to her comments.

The Glee actress, 28, presented her opinion to Rosie O'Donnell, Nicolle Wallace, and the other ladies seated at the roundtable. "I have to say I have a theory about showering, [which] is that I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics," Rivera remarked as Wallace started laughing. "I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing."

One of her stunned co-stars chimed in: "I would like to dispute that!" while O'Donnell pointed to an audience member.

"Look, there is an African-American woman right there in a yellow shirt that is about to have a heart attack," she remarked.

Rivera, attempting to repair the situation, noted that her mother is half-black, half-Puerto Rican. "She showers every day, so I can say this," the actress said directly to the guest. "But I can say that I am now married to a white man [Ryan Dorsey], and he showers a lot. Like, a lot -- two, three times a day. I'm like, 'What are you doing?'"

Rivera then got scientific in trying to prove her point. "A study says... a dermatologist says you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days, so I'm right on the mark."

Regardless of her intentions, Rivera attracted the wrath of viewers on Tuesday as fans immediately took to social media to voice their opinions.

She said she showers every day. She's saying showering multiple times a day is a "White people thing", not a daily shower.
She's speaking from her own (limited) experience.
Her science is right.
And personally, I only shower once a day, after a workout, especially in the winter time.
Most people shower due to need.

I'm in agreement. I knew exactly what she meant. Unfortunately, I grew up around white folks, and when it rained, it smelled like you were at the Westminster.

I've dealt with plenty of white girls....been around a lot of White folks in general. When the start sweating they do release a wild animal type of odor. My Grandpops used to tell me that White folks smell like dogs because back when they were in caves, they used to fuck wild dogs (hyenas and shit) hence they have dog DNA in their blood. Don't know the validity behind that...but its kinda funny when u think about it.

Btw....i stated in the "Men rarely wash there bed sheets thread" that I've gone months without washing my bed sheets. Sometimes my sheets smell like sweat, piss, pussy juice & rubber lubrication . As for shower....depending on what's going on...i may sometimes skip a day. And usually when I skip a day I rarely produce bad odor. Degree deodorant can literally keep your arms fresh for 2-3 days...without washing...depending on how much u sweat. I shower more in the summer than winter.

I honest believe not washing away your bodies natural oils for a day or two can be beneficial to your health. Btw...im not some nasty stinky mofo. My bed sheet are about the only smelly thing that you find in my spot. I clean up like a female. Potpourri and all kinds of shit flowing thru my crib.
