How different animals see the world

This may sound strange but....how and the fuck do they know for certain what animals see....
I know my dogs see shit that's invisible to me....one day he ran into the hallway and started growling..
I hop up to see what's going on.....nothing....I tell him to come back with me, and he's not moving...
His growls getting louder...and now his hair is standing up in and around his neck....now I'm freaking out....
Then, just like that...it was over...
I think some animals see/sense spirits....
