Hulk Hogan Has Been Reinstated Into the WWE Hall of Fame
Legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan has been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The entertainment company announced the decision Sunday, about three years after it had suspended Hogan for using racial slurs.
“This second chance follows Hogan’s numerous public apologies and volunteering to work with young people, where he is helping them learn from his mistake,” the WWE wrote in a statement. “These efforts led to a recent induction into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame.”
The WWE terminated their contract with Hogan back in July 2015, after he was captured on tape using the n-word and “Sambo” to refer to his daughter’s boyfriend. A portion of the audio’s transcript read:
I dunno if Brooke was fucking the black guy’s son, or they’ve been hanging out. I caught them holding hands together on the tour. They were getting close to kind of [inaudible] the fucking [inaudible]. I’m not a double standard type of guy. I’m a racist to a point, y’know, fucking ******* […]
Earlier this year, it was reported that the WWE was interested in restoring their relationship with the now-64-year-old, following a speech he gave to the Boys & Girls Club back in April. Those rumors were fueled this weekend when Hogan was spotted catching a flight to Cleveland, which is about a two-hour drive from where Sunday's WWE Extreme Rules 2018 is being held.
