That said, my straight take is that the officer in this scenario was doing too much. I get if he thought that the guy was going into his car to get his weapon, but once he realized that he was just fleeing, he could have just let dude go. He has his name, he has the vehicle info, and with that they could have tracked him back down later. Trying to drag him out of the vehicle and then jumping into the car was some TJ Hooker bullshit.
Officer training needs to re-emphasize safety over detainment/apprehension, especially in cases where people get put in harm's way.

I doubt if any officer training anywhere trains its officers for jumping into moving vehicles. That officer took that action because of the "defiance factor" involved with any vehicle or walking stop!!! It is the presence of defiance in a person, however slight, whether physical or verbal, at a contact that makes officers start ignoring their training.
Agreed, except I also believe that the aggressive response to defiance is also part of their training.
More than likely it was for some traffic-related event.

Dude was flooring the car with the dumb ass cop hanging on. Of course he shot him. He could have killed mad innocent people running a light or stop sign speeding like that. Fuck that dumb ass nigga

and there is still no reason given for the stop - dash cam shows no overt traffic infractions
And a car doesn't just stop once you shoot someone, you actually add danger because the driver will no longer control the vehicle.....
He could have just as easily gotten shot and floored it through an intersection or into a house,
Forget flooring it, forward momentum until it runs into an intersection/ oncoming traffic....
I'm wondering if dude was a little slow or maybe just really scared (the move to get back into his car is weird) has he ever been pulled over before (mom said he was only 21).....so many questions and redacted videos do not provide many (if any) answers
