if you spending $500 you better be expecting to get atleast 5 years out of that tv

Its crazy that we willingly accept and hope to get only 5years (not to mention the 2-3 holmeboy said) from a fucking TV these days. Remember your old tube set would last a decade+? Easily.

Shit, i still got a RCA 32inch i bought in 1996. Works like the day i bought it.

Hell yeah, get a small tv then...

a smaller better looking tv is better than a huge blurry one if you ask me (With the exception of projectors)...

Dynex, along with Insignia, are house brands for Best Buy. You will Only find them there. The manufacturer is XOCECO, which stands for "Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics Company." I know, because I did a lot of research on this unit, and even spoke with a rep from Xoceco, who verified that over 90% of Best Buy's Dynex brand TVs are made by Xoceco. They also make a portion of the Insignia lineup. They manufacture TVs for over 160 brands worldwide, 12 of which are U.S. brands. They manufacture products ranging from entry-level to fairly high-end. They manufacture over 5% of TVs worldwide. Cosidering the number of brands that exist, that's pretty impressive. They assured me, LG does NOT make any of the Dynex brand products. Xoceco has manufactured for SEC, Sanyo, Polaroid, and many others. At one time, they were sole manufacturers for Audiovox. The Dynex brand has, according to Xoceco, been a tier two out of five in regards to quality, competetive with other entry-level models on the market. The Dynex brand is now at about tier 3, marking a deliberate increase in product quality, and being about mid-level in quality. This denotes mainly the new Dynex products released this year.

If you are happy with the picture quality go for it.

I paid $500 for a Offbrand 50" (AOC) 720 that I got online 2-3 weeks before Black Friday. Best Buy & Walmat sold a 37" for $299 some months ago, so this deal is not that great to me.

I got the 26" joint for my pops around July, the picture is still good so far. I don't know how well it's gonna hold up over the years tho'.

Inisgnia isn't bad either. Dynex is just like Walmart oil, same stuff if not similar to the big brands, just not as much of the name. I'd say check the warranty on it and make sure you have a good policy in case something goes wrong. I haven't heard too many people complaining about the flat screens they bought from some of the cheaper electronics stores.

I'm looking to get this. I know its off brand but I think Sanyo makes it. It's sold at Best Buy

My eyes are not that sensitive and compared to my 18 year old 32 inch sony tube tv it will prob look great. If I can get 2-3 years out of it for 500 bucks I'll be happy.

If you can hold on a few weeks, WAIT until Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I can guarantee there will be multiple sales on 42" TVs. Usually the sale papers start leaking what the deals will be after next week (Nov 1), so just be on the lookout and be patient and save you some REAL money!
