Is masturbating daily a sex addiction?

Anything can be an addiction. It's a difference between using it to relieve stress vs coping with issues. Once you find yourself doing it to escape your issues or even needing to do it before for every stressful event, you may have an issue. Also, if you can't perform with women you clearly have a problem.

Either way, over doing can have negative effects. Doing it too much can cause a slight form of ED. You could basically get so use to your hand that pussy doesn't compare to allow you to maintaina full erection. You could also have the opposite effect and can't buss or it takes forever. Women likely don't get you excited enough to begin with. If it gets too bad, it may take you months to get your body back to normal.

On the opposite end, some people really do have a high sex drive, so it would be hard to call. As long as that person isn't doing it at work or in their car, they are showing restrict and likely aren't addicted.

On the other hand, beating off may prevent you from getting unwanted women pregnant, catching stds and you could learn to last longer with women.

Evidence for the role of ejaculation in prostate cancer prevention comes from several studies, but most notably from a 2016 study in which Harvard researchers followed more than 30,000 men for almost 20 years. The researchers, quite unabashedly, asked them men to report how often they ejaculated during their 20s and 40s.

What they found is that ejaculating more than 20 times per month reduced prostate cancer risk by about 20% compared to ejaculating only four to seven times per month, for both men in their 20s and 40s. “This is a fairly sizable effect,” says Lorelei Mucci, Sc.D., a co-author of the study and director of the Cancer Epidemiology and Cancer Prevention Program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Although the study didn’t investigate the reasons why frequent ejaculation might be protective against prostate cancer, Mucci says one potential explanation is the so-called prostate stagnation hypothesis: that infrequent ejaculation may allow potentially cancer-causing substances to linger in the prostate for extended periods of time, upping cancer risk.

Nothing wrong with the act of masturbating that's normal.
Masturbating to porn is what most say is the problem.
I don't see nothing wrong with masturbating to porn, because I watch porn with a scene that would have you doing that!

It will also keep you from making bad decisions. Say you bout to hit up a slimmie. Say you got to be to work in the morning and it is about 10 pm and you know if you get with that slimmie it is gonna be a 2 am night....gone and rub one out. If you still want to hit that slimmie after that, then by all means do, but I bet you gonna roll over and be grateful in the morning.

That post nut clarity, as I have heard it called here, can happen in solitude and peace....lol

I went to a men's function at church in the early 2000s. They were talking about what is a sin. So this one guy stands up and gives a short speech on why masturbation is a sin.

Then another guy in the church who was being treated for prostate cancer stood up and said that his doctor told him to masturbate regularly as part of his treatment.

So that started a small debate on should you sin in order to stay alive. I really quit listen after the guy said that he was being treated for prostate cancer. My opinion was, you do what ever the fuck you have to do to stay alive.

Prostate cancer is big in Black men. You need to masturbate regularly or have sex regularly. My Grandfather had prostate issues and so did my father, so it runs in my family.

I told my wife, either we're going to have sex regularly or I have to find someone else (if nothing is wrong with her). Because the men in my family need to exercise their prostates. I feel that you shouldn't need to jerk-off if you're married.

There’s no such thing as sex addiction.

The article basically said brain waves of alleged sex addicts compared to other addictions that meet the criteria didn't match. Sex addiction more aligns with impulse control and possible related to having a higher sex drive. The article doesn't outright state it doesn't exist as much as say you're ( people in general) using the incorrect terminology from a scientific definition point of view.

Another article stated ( looks like the study may have been from early 2000s) that very few studies have been done on the subject.i skimmed alot of this but it comes across like it isn't listed in the DSM-IV because of a lack of research in the area and not that it completely misses the mark.

I don't think Self really defined addiction or to what extent they were speaking on, but most would agree that if it's impacting other parts of your life it's an issue regardless of what/how you want to label it. While I don't believe you'll have withdrawal symptoms like cold chills, a lack of control, codependency or it causes other issues in your life like the inability to perform with women isn't any better. Like the original article you posted alluded to most people who claim to be addicted are not. It's similar to people who say they suffer from anxiety or depression because it has become the popular term over the last few years.

You guys that are saying there is no such thing as sex addiction, I disagree. I think true sex addicts are people like Marlon Brando, a person who ends up fucking anything moving. Rip Eddie Griffin the Nba player that was masturbating and driving ended up dying by crashing his SUV. Also guys that jerk off at places like work. Now I guess you can also say something deeper going on with these kind of people but these types are who I consider sex addicts.

Wrong, some people just have stronger sex drives. Doesn’t mean they are addicts .

Man listen. There are Jehovah's Witnesses dying daily over there refusal to get blood transfusion that would save their life. How are you going to tell me some shit is in the Bible when it wasn't invented yet when the Bible was written?

"God is against the internet."

"God is against crypto currency."

Why are you using a 2000 year old book to dictate your life? You do what you got to do to extend your life

I took the clip as masturbastion from both sexs and not being directed at men. One of the callers was a woman speaking about herself.

If you're speaking on porn making men view women as purely sexual objects, i agree that overall could be a feminist narrative. I also believe shaming men for masturbastion falls in that vain. The thing is religious organization may be a bigger culprit for sex or sex related activities being viewed negatively. Even feminist try to use sex as one of the things they are fighting for as far as not being shamed for desiring sex/number of sexual partners. They generally encourage women to explore masturbastion to learn about themselves. There argument is usually they want more control over their sexual identity.

That said, there is a difference between someone with a high sex drive and someone who may become less interested in relationships with women due to masturbastion or can't perform because of it. You may not want to call it addiction and maybe for the majority it's not. I'm not going to pretend that I'm a doctor or I've done extensive research, but hormones are released during sex. Do I think the feeling is the same as drugs, alcohol or caffeine. No, but I do believe there are negative effects that could lead to ED. I also believe some people have addictive personalities like people who were on drugs and replace it with religion. These people seem to be on the extreme side of being religious and seem to have replaced one addiction with something that could be healthier on the surface, but the addiction itself is still there. Addiction may be the wrong term or an overreach, but masturbastion could have a negative impact on some people's lives.

Yaos Comment

"I do not advocate complete celibancy. A rotation of two weeks is better. Abstinence for two weeks then two weeks of normal intimate activity. Semen retention during this phase provides all the energy benefits of abstinence. There is still orgasm. This releases hormones which are beneficial to male. And the recirculation of semen is far superior to simple holding. Long-term abstinence retards hormones and lowers sexual energy. Slows down the thyroid.:

Nothing wrong with masturbating everyday with or without porn.

The biggest issue is time.

If you are not getting shit done because you are spending hours watching big booty anal porn, then it's an issue.

It's just relative to the person and the value they put on their time to get shit done.

True , but those types are the types who have no self control over anything so they could get obsessed with any type of Vice . There are people out there who can easily be side tracked by shit no matter what it is. Blaming sex or jerking off etc seems to be because of the stigma around masturbation and sex in general as perverted or dirty or only to create etc.

I dont think it’s the sexual part the people you’re talking about are hung up on but something else going on in their life. There’s people who shop online all day or other dumb shit like that . They are doing it to cope with something.

I just do it when I have time but it's not an everyday thing.
