The Israeli Air Force killed Faris Qasim, a senior member of the Islamic Jihad organization's Operations Division, on the Syrian-Lebanese border on Wednesday.
"Qasim was responsible for developing Islamic Jihad's operational plans in Syria and Lebanon. He played a central role in recruiting Palestinian terrorists for the Hezbollah terrorist organization, responsible for carrying out terrorist attacks from Lebanon against the State of Israel," the army said.
It also noted that other members heading to Syria were killed during the attack on Lebanese territory.

The United States has announced new sanctions against some West Bank settlers who receive funding from the Israeli government.
The sanctioned group is Hashomer Yosh, which provides security for illegal settler settlements.

Relatives of Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip protested near the border on Thursday, demanding a deal to secure their release and at one point trying to cross into the coastal enclave.
"We were trying to get into Gaza to get the hostages back. Our relatives. Our military prevented us, they are trying to defend us and protect us. But the hostages are not protected there," one protester said.
