Why wasn’t there outrage about RDJ though?!
This is literally the same thing as Tropic Thunder.

you dont think the movie was actually makin fun of wite actors, who think they can play any character of any race??

I feel it got over because it had the bruh costar there, voicing how we really feel about cacs tryin to be us...

without that costar and his lines..

it wouldnt have gotten a pass....

you think the WHITE directors and writers thought it out like that. Or did they just want to blackface?

To me there was a process of moving away from Blackface, the Sambo bullshit, to white impressionists coloring their skin to impersonate Black celebrities. Over the 2000s it became clear that even when it was done out of respect, it wasn't cool. Now you will not see a white impressionist put on coloring to do a black celebrity. But this Fallon piece was before the Robert Downey Jr.'s work in Tropic Thunder and no one is talking about canceling Downey Jr. Let's not be selective.

This is pretty accurate. Clearly, this didn't age well, but there was plenty of opportunity to be pissed off at Fallon for this when it happened. In particular, comedy is a slippery slope, because some things were allowed at one time, and eventually frowned on later.

My personal view on comedy is that if it happened when it happened and people didn't get upset then, there's no point in getting up in arms about it now. Unless that ish continued, in which case then it's a present issue.

there was.
A lot of people forget that there was a pretty big stir up about RDJ in Tropic Thunder. There were several complaints brought up about the movie, but that was one of them. RDJ himself has said that he wasn't sure it was the best idea when he did the movie. He probably only survived that because Iron Man released first, blew up, and made him a somewhat bulletproof commodity for Marvel Studios.

i don't agree with what Jimmy did at all, and would have never found it funny. But this is just a case of some losers on twitter looking for stuff to complain about. Twitter is becoming a cult for people who have nothing else better to do.

That’s exactly what RDJ’s character was about.
It doesn’t matter.
It’s still the same thing

Let's take RDJ out of it. Tropic Thunder was a movie that was about how ridiculous the movie industry was/is. It's one of my favorite movies. I would like to have a discussion with anybody who actually saw the movie about that.

This Fallon shit is stupid also. The dude was actually doing Chris Rock. He can't roll in playing Chris Rock and be lily white. The point of the sketch was that Regis and nem didn't have black people on. I swear sometimes, people want to be mad and seek out that injustice so hard that they miss what people are trying to say. And sometimes, that's the whole point.

Dude the naacp even got involved. But when every saw the movie, we all understood what it was about, plus it was funny as fuck.

Please tell me that you understand that your own statement about this is ridiculous.
So if it’s funny, who cares about Blackface, is what you’re saying.
