The Santa Rosa Press Democrat's Grant Cohn believes the 49ers are internally pulling for Blaine Gabbert to beat out Colin Kaepernick for the team's starting quarterback job.

Cohn notes the 49ers aren't even publishing pictures of Kaepernick on their website, which Cohn believes is "symbolic" and indicative of the 49ers wanting Kaepernick to "fade into the background, drop off the edge." Cohn believes the 49ers' front office and team are "tired of" Kaepernick and "want Gabbert to be the starting quarterback and the face of the franchise." Cohn goes so far as to suggest the 49ers hope to demote Kaepernick to third string in order to avoid paying his per-game roster bonuses. Although it's still very early in the offseason, Gabbert looks like the tentative favorite to start under new coach Chip Kelly.

Those issues came to its height in the super bowl where they couldn't get a play called in on time so burned a timeout when kap would've scored and then didn't dial up a play from 5 yards out to try and get the win.

The following year same thing happened. Not converting in the red zone cost us against seattle.

So. How many times does the same thing need to happen over and over before there's a change? You're supposed to correct it after 4 years and it got worse. Independent of each other they're great. So let me get this straight, yall wasn't shit for the past 12 years (1999-2010) Then go to three straight straight conference championships (with one Super Bowl appearance) have one mediocre season and this is because Roman and Harbaugh had issues?? NEVER give up money in a league without guaranteed deals. Stay healthy, learn another system, and go get money when they finally release you. Ride it out like RG3 and you'll get another shot with all your money in your pocket...just like he did. He actually has a coach that has shown he will incorporate the zone read & still let him throw conventional passes like he wants. Hue might be able to salvage him, Kap can get the same if he don't thrive in Chip's system.

The 1st year he was the coach with Alex smith we set the record for most field goals in a single season.
In the playoffs at the Packers we had to call a timeout after getting the kick off because the play wasn't in on time.
Kap covered up for a lot of issues. A lot. That's why I believe in him because the line was great at run blocking horrible at pass blocking. His best wrs were usually hurt or slow or both . His tight end checked out. Old rb. And he still got it done.

If Mike McCarty who has a super bowl ring can give up his play calling duties cause the team wants him to. How can't Harbaugh replace the oc because it's literally what's best for the team?
