Kanye always had some skills man...fam was dope in 96 - wish he would go back to rapping and drop all that weird ass experimental bullshit that he does now.

This footage was from a spot called Fat Beats Records, a vinyl, cd's and tape joint in New York City that held a lot of underground Hip-Hop events. Lord finesse and Xzibit were actually at this event in the video.

yea...my cousin told me about him....back in the day when he was comin' up...

i was like "cool, i guess i'll give him a listen"...

he put on some of his freestyles..while i was cleanin' the house...

and every other line...i was like "whoa"...

been checkin' for him every since....

even without the antics ...i'd still buy his music...brotha is mad talented...

they were showin' freestyles of his when he was 12...on VH1 ..BET...or TV one...one of those channels..and you could tell...even at 12...there was something there....

Man Kanyes word play has always been bananas. I remember when he battled common shit was hillarious

Back when freestyling meant fucking freestyling.

On the cool, Ye was on Jay's ass for a good lil minute. And was better on a lot of days, fuck what you heard.

Ye was one of my biggest musical influences back before his first two albums, mostly because he built his style from another one of my biggest influences.

Who? Ghetto Mafia?

Lemme test your producer's ear though

The first half of Ye's production career can be traced back to one song. For the grand prize, what was the song and who produced it?

Don't fucking Google that shit either lol I never had to

Compared to artists back then, average. Comparing his skills then to artists right now, goat.
