More than 170 attacks have been committed against politicians in the lead-up to the June elections. This violence has put campaigns under tension and is sowing doubts about governability in several regions. Specialists warn that the line between the Mexican state and organized crime is increasingly blurred

Electoral violence is going unchecked in Mexico. Noé Ramos Ferretiz, a candidate for the municipal presidency of Mante, a city in the state of Tamaulipas, was campaigning last Friday when he was stabbed several times. The politician, who is a member of the National Action Party (PAN), died in the middle of the event, to the shock of his supporters. Overwhelming images of blood-stained leaflets circulated afterwards.

The main suspect fled without a trace, in broad daylight. He would be arrested by the end of the weekend. Hours after the crime in Mante, the body of Alberto Antonio García, a mayoral candidate for the ruling party, MORENA, was found in the city of San José Independencia, in the state of Oaxaca. His wife, a councilor in the town of fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, was released alive after being kidnapped for two days.

The murders of Ramos Ferretiz and Antonio García are the latest two cases to be registered during the 2024 electoral process. So far in this election cycle, 30 candidates have already been murdered, according to data from the think tank Laboratorio Electoral (“Electoral Laboratory”).

That whole country could be put on auction for 50 dollars and I still won't bid for it. Cartels run that country, not the government.

Many politicians are corrupt racist scum and it is no surprise to see some of them getting shot. They are clinging on to you wasting your time, blocking you from leaving or other nonsense.

That is not going to help out. People let me tell you something the worst things to do right now is to have a destabilized Mexican government. The corruption is deep within the police force and the military there so yeah

We have our own politicians being shot at by white nationalist to get them inline with their agenda, the black community always wants to rescue other communities. I always see these videos on Youtube talking about how great it is.

Reporters and Politicians are scum, I can see the cartels going after after them. They work hand and glove to help each other setup your assassination.

Smh

The US is not concerned. If the US was concerned, they would have supported a candidate that would have made the required changes. El Salvador was worse than Mexico but now a tourist and retirement destination because 1 President declared war on organized crime.

Just like guns are changing America, Pablo Escobar (I know he's Colombian) gave us this new Latin America by the way of organized drug trade. Ripple effects.

Yeah, let’s spend this money in Ukraine and Israel though. Our largest trade partner let em figured it out. :smh:

I'm starting to believe, the US is allowing the chaos to happen.
Man, all you have to do is look at Operation Fast and Furious. The backfire plan to put weapons on the streets in Mexico. US continues to dive into shit it shouldn't. Not our problem and the US needs to take care of the fucking American Nationalist first before anything else.

Pablo Escobar was inevitable. If it wasn't drugs, it would have been something else by someone else. It's a reaction to white imperialism. And yes, I know Pablo Escobar was white but he wasn't on their side.

Oh so the feds are involved in mexicos elections, we all know by now the feds work hand in hand

with mexican mafia....

I have dealt with many politicians absolute evil MF. Many of them will come at the cartels with some shakedown scheme while talking anti drug nonsense. They manipulate the military or federales into believing they are fighting a drug war, when the cartel did not pay up. I can surmise these problems happen in Mexico.

The same thing with news reporters they have shot and killed. I have seen their dark side. One news organization setup Dr King by reporting his location low key. I was just complaining about one recently myself.

Democracies attract some of the worse people to these jobs, they do excellent propaganda creating this angelic image of themselves.
