What's frustrating too is they want to get people back into the theaters more (past number of years) ... but the format of doing this further just angers and frustrates / bores people before their movie even begins.
Hence people saying - "I'll just wait for the VOD or to download it."
let me preface by saying this isn't the most important issue for a government official to tackle... but that doesn't mean it isn't AN ISSUE.
Okay here is my personal take. As someone who knows theatre managers etc.
I have no issues REALLY with the ads and trailers. I actually love trailers.
25 minutes of trailers?
Especially when I can see them on YouTube for free?
With ads too? That's the issue.
Theaters are getting paid very well to show ads ads and trailers. It's a captive audience. I get it. But they are NOT passing that savings on to the audience.
They are LYING to trap your attention
I think if it was JUST trailers people wouldn't care.
It's the trailers and ads for 30 minutes.
People paid $20+ to see a movie and your essentially forcing them to watch ads too.
That ain't right.
And it isn't a set time so you can't really AVOID them.
You can't make the audience pay to watch ads they don't want.
That's called cable.
Having a AD TIME and FILM TIME isn't a big issue.
Because based on the youtube comments many of the audience LIKE IT.
sidebar... those people are also full of sh*t. So they cool with paying for ads that the theatre is getting paid to show them and paying 10 for a soda and 10 for a popcorn? Yeah okay no wonder they voted this idiot into office.
