Ok real talk...

for those that actually STILL got to the theaters

Besides ticket prices, concession prices, rude audience etc

One of the BIGGEST ISSUES movie goers have is the 25 to 30 minute TRAILERS.

Its gotten ridiculous

its not JUST trailers its ACTUAL commercials now

To me the 2 times posted is a no brainer BUT I also understand (but completely disagree) with the the theatres saying advertisers gonna paying for ads if the post the REAL times.

These motherfuckers ain't got shit else better to do? How about airports stating when the planes are going to board, not the time when they actually leave the airport, because by the time they leave the airport they closed the doors like 20 minutes before that. So that's not really the time.

If your flight leaves at 10:00 and you get there at 9:50, that door is shut and you cannot get on once the door is shut, they don't reopen that motherfucker. The flight boards at 9:15, that door closes at 9:45.

Damn, it's not unreasonable.

They're not demanding they lessen the advertising time so it's not going to cost money.

Requiring them to be upfront with the exact times is fair.

The deal with advertisers and theater owners should be for them to work out and shouldn't come at the expense of the customer especially considering how expensive a night at the movies is now.

That's a bad analogy

I don't go to the theater too often, but the overly long trailers were definitely a turn-off when I was going frequently with the free tickets (contests) to advanced screenings (2000s and early-2010s).

They were running ads for orange juice, Beautiful British Columbia, etc. Coca-Cola, plus the movie trailers.

It's gotten worse

What's frustrating too is they want to get people back into the theaters more (past number of years) ... but the format of doing this further just angers and frustrates / bores people before their movie even begins.

Hence people saying - "I'll just wait for the VOD or to download it."

let me preface by saying this isn't the most important issue for a government official to tackle... but that doesn't mean it isn't AN ISSUE.

Okay here is my personal take. As someone who knows theatre managers etc.

I have no issues REALLY with the ads and trailers. I actually love trailers.

25 minutes of trailers?

Especially when I can see them on YouTube for free?

With ads too? That's the issue.

Theaters are getting paid very well to show ads ads and trailers. It's a captive audience. I get it. But they are NOT passing that savings on to the audience.

They are LYING to trap your attention

I think if it was JUST trailers people wouldn't care.

It's the trailers and ads for 30 minutes.

People paid $20+ to see a movie and your essentially forcing them to watch ads too.

That ain't right.

And it isn't a set time so you can't really AVOID them.

You can't make the audience pay to watch ads they don't want.

That's called cable.

Having a AD TIME and FILM TIME isn't a big issue.

Because based on the youtube comments many of the audience LIKE IT.

sidebar... those people are also full of sh*t. So they cool with paying for ads that the theatre is getting paid to show them and paying 10 for a soda and 10 for a popcorn? Yeah okay no wonder they voted this idiot into office.

Back in the day there would usually be like 2 or 3 trailers shown..and no commercials for Mcdonalds or whereever,or even ads to visit local mall stores(like a couple of theaters here in Toronto sometimes show):lol:

Yo I didn't know you rep t dot bro.

How Aubrey doing up there?

I tell you like this, I plan my movie night to get to the movies 20 minutes after it's supposedly starts because I am not watching 25 minutes worth of goddamn previews. I plan for this fuck shit

I hate trailers now. Give me a 2 min portion of the movie to get me interested. Stop showing me possible deaths, twists and spoilers. If the movie starts at 11am then the please silence your phones should start at 11, trailers should be before that. Now i have to do math adding in trailers and 2 hr movie, if it's Marvel add in another 5 min for post credits. Now sitting in a movie almost 3 hrs, plus 20 min driving and standing in line for my nachos. Then if it's Aquaman 2 type bad, I fell asleep and still haven't watched.

Motherfuckers about to aboish the Department of Education and this what the fuck he is worried about?

I guess since kids won't be going to school any more, we got to have the movie times right!!!!!!!

When theater’s first started, it would be over a hour before the main feature started.

The theater showed news reels, advertising and shorts.

Those old “Little Rascals”, “Buck Rodger’s and others were shown.

The “Looney Tunes” cartoons people are familiar with today were originally shown in theaters along with “Tom & Jerry” and “Popeye” along with others.

Americans have gotten spoiled and want shit NOW.

A law for bitch ass people. I don’t mind; even though the trailers are a plenty. I don’t go often, so it’s only a few extra minutes.

But bro...They are NOT showing or doing any of that

THAT is the problem.

You talking unique focused targeted specific advertisements aligned with the corresponding films

They showing random TV ads and the same trailers on YouTube

How you blaming the audience?

The theatre is literally taking advantage of the audience by charging MORE to watch ADDITIONAL ADVERTISING

The theatres aren't even denying it.

Again how is the audiences spoiled?

Why are we supposed to defend the corporation taking advantage of us?

Like I said.

Mofos want it NOW. Folks today are spoiled.

Look at TV, people today cannot sit thru commercials cuz they got spoiled with DVR’s and streaming.

And with TV, only Baby Boomers and Gen X remember when there was only 3 TV networks and no cable TV or streaming apps.

And BB/Gen X remember when TV only broadcasted new content between September and May. There was nothing on TV during the summer months.

When mofos go to theaters, as soon as they sit down they want that flick to start right NOW.

But bro you talking like I wasn't there?

It's not about spoiled it's about evolution

I don't want to bend hangers no more. Twist the dial and adjust the vertical control to watch a show in black and white.

you can't TAKE BACK the knowledge and evolution

Why is it a big deal for people to want to KNOW the actual start time of a movie THEY PAYING FOR?

This ain't free. There ain't no discount. In fact it's grossly inflated.

I don't get why you AGAINST someone buying a ticket and expecting it to start on time? And knowing WHEN the specific time IS?

Broadway Sporting event doctors appointment genius bar...

Is a scheduled time.

People didn't even say DON'T SHOW ADS (which they should and could complain about).

They asking to tell them the real time.

Tell me WHY that such an egregious request?

Just to get this out the way...

Kids? Me and @blackbull1970 are like family.

We just debating it ain't serious.

I mean he WRONG :giggle:

But he usually right 99% of the time so no one perfect.

PLEASE don't DM asking if we got beef.

Grown folk just talking.

You buy a ticket for the 815pm show.

You know there will be ads, trailers and promos starting at 815pm.

You also know if you don’t have your Ass in that theater well before 815pm, you gonna lose out on the best seats in the room and your favorite seats giving you a high chance of being stuck in the front rows looking up the nostrils of the actors on the screen.

If you gotta sit down and watch BS for 10-15 minutes deal with it.

That isn't true.

Now they have been adjusting the time from either 10 to 30. Just abusing it

I'm paying my money I ain't gotta deal with sh*t.

I got enough other bullsh*t in this country I ain't got no power over I'll be dawned a movie theatre make me miserable after I done paid my money.

Hell real talk I don't even pay usually for the ticket or concessions and I'm still tight.

Sidebar...

Shout out Alamo and Nighthawk for having structured start times, smart clever advertising and trailers tailored for the movie experience and restrict late entry
