The tone I always get whenever I hear discussions about the West coast music is like, we not suppose to be winning.
It's this, "It is what it is." type mentality more than it is congratulatory and let's all celebrate.
West coast is like the "other" category not with the rest.
It's like mf's is still sour because of 2pac & Biggie's feud, death row and bad boy and can't reconcile that west coast music is a thing.
Despite all the collaborations and features and inclusion from coast to coast.
Living on the east coast I hardly if ever hear anyone independently play west coast music, oddly enough I do find a lot of fans of Spice 1 out here and if it's not Kendrick or YG it's probably not getting much play unless it's the Dr Dre & Snoop classics.
But independently they will play any new emerging artist from any other region not from west coast.
To Cam's point about NY and the east coast not sticking together the west coast is extremely territorial.
I get it though, everyone fighting for representation but one thing I do see more of is west coast artist collab with artist outside their hood.
You're right on many of your points. I spoke about it yesterday and said that people generally don't listen to or like West Coast music. The tone I always get whenever I hear discussions about the West coast music is like, we not suppose to be winning.

That was then this is now.I gotta disagree
I always hear this West hate And honestly? Its severely over blown.
I grew up with Video Music Box Rap City Pump It Up Yo MTV Raps the box and read The Source and watched 106 & Park and they all celebrated the West
I was always big fans of King Tee the Liks Hobo Junction Heiro Kam Cube Cypress Xibit Snoop Quik Eiht Too Short E 40 and I could go on
And we PLAYED those artist in Brooklyn and Philly and Jersey DMV he box area.
they were played on mixtapes and mixtape shows. We bought their CDs and tapes.
During the East West issue did we ALL feel "different"? Hell yeah.
But we all KNEW who was on what side. And many artists STILL got a pass if the music was good.
That was then this is now.
Back then I played everyone’s music too, because I enjoyed music.
But the attitude has always been West coast aint supposed to be winning. “Too much west coast dick lickin.”When you say some shit like that you set the tone for the attitude.
Has it stopped East + West collaborations, no.
Kendrick got his wave right now but behind it all I can tell mfs really just want Drake back lol

You talking about the original line or Joey dropping it recently?
Right. You're right on many of your points. I spoke about it yesterday and said that people generally don't listen to or like West Coast music.
Yes you have huge artists that break through, but generally West Coast music isn't popular across the country like other regions.
The original line. You talking about the original line or Joey dropping it recently?
The original line.
Coming from an artist of his stature its gonna set the tone for the culture and those that proceed after it. Thats not to say he’s the reason for it but it contributes.
