If there is a shortage, that means somebody is sitting on them and needs to spend them to get them back in circulation.
 
My Co worker theory is because of the minerals used to make coins are harder to source cause less workers due to covid.

They are trying everything to get to a cashless world!! What I can't understand is how they all of a sudden, don't have or running low on coins!! This ish is all by design!! But they always have to play it off as if they are caught off guard and have to let the news media push nothing but fear for a few weeks!! It's the same script on every government issue!!

Yeah, the government is holding onto those coins!! But the are going to play it off, like grandmas are holding all the coins!! If not it's going to be sum type of fear agenda!! They have to keep the citizens in a state of fear!! As long as they keep the people in fear, they can do anything they want! The FEAR agenda has been played on the population for decades and decades!! And 80% of the population never catches onto it!!!

Yeah 1 of my boys was telling me months ago some big chain electronic store was saying due to covid they not doing cash sales only card.. I was like that's some straight cashless society tactic.. I'm glad it didn't catch on as of now saying that line
 
There's been a drastically reduced amount of cash/coin transactions since Covid. Most places taking CC only.
This means the coins won't be introduced back into circulation for a while.

They haven't processed millions of paper tax returns but ya'll think they will fire up the mills take make coins?
 
I was in the grocery store today, Brother at the register only had nickles and pennies.

He apologized before giving me the change but I didn't mind.
