does anyone know who owns Tupac Amaru's catalog because Afini is gone and she married some nigga b4 she departed and we haven't heard a word since about who's making money off Tupac Amaru's legacy....why don't somebody make a movie about that!
That movie All Eyez On Me caused a rift. The family did not like that movie due to being left out of making it after being told they would be contributing to it. There was an issue with WorldWide pushing the movie and also being the media for the Tupac Center at the same time when Dominic Santana got interviewed in terms of Pac's family.
It is a set of lawyers who owns Tupac's catalog and I'll leave it at that. It is a rabbit's hole and Pac's family doesn't own anything related to it. It will be interesting how this will play out because those sets of lawyers DO NOT play with 2Pac copyright. The lawyers also seem to want to own the images and rights to Afeni Shakur as well.
Although they don't own the Tupac Shakur name either, but the stage name 2Pac. It is probably why William Lesane is using Makaveli The Donfor the biopic name.
Another messed up thing that happened was the Tupac Center. The lawyers came and put a cease and desist on the new owner and the WWETV media outlet over calling it the Tupac Center. Afeni Shakur sold it to the new owner Barnett and his promise was to keep it as the Tupac Center for The Arts, but once Afeni died those same lawyers came in and put a stop to its use and it is now called Legacy Garden although Tupac memorabilia is all over the grounds and headquarters.
It's a shame really too as the family was originally helping out the place, but then stopped which is why you saw the statue get removed as the family took it back. Then a new one was going to be put in its place and T.I. vouched for it, but then disappeared when assistance was needed for the statue.
