We sure aren’t in D.C. anymore.

The Night Agent star Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland board a plane after his promotion to night agent for saving the president — and now we know where he was headed. Season 2 opens on the other side of the world from his former White House basement office, with Peter on a mission in Bangkok, Thailand, to track a CIA agent suspected of selling classified information.
“Like season 1, this season starts off simple and then grows more complicated and intertwined as the episodes progress,” showrunner Shawn Ryan tells
Entertainment Weekly. “Classified information and the people who steal it, sell it, and use it connects all our various storylines.”

But Peter’s not alone; he has a new mentor to teach him the ropes of being a night agent. As Ryan says, the beloved underdog is “still learning.”

Brittany Snow. “Alice is Peter’s point of contact and superior in Thailand. She’s a very skilled agent and someone who is very used to living the lifestyle of solitude,” Snow says of her character, whom you can see in EW’s exclusive first-look photos of Alice below.
Ryan adds that not only is Alice teaching Peter “how to be a night agent," but she's also teaching him "how to compartmentalize your life to protect the civilians you care about, like Rose in his case.”

Speaking of Rose (Luciane Buchanan) … she’s nowhere to be found in Thailand. Might Peter’s new partner also pose a potential new romantic connection? “All I can say is Peter and Alice get along very well and have great chemistry — during and out of their missions,” Snow teases.
But don’t worry, we’ll see the tech entrepreneur return. Ryan says that “Peter's current life is very much a mystery” to Rose as season 2 begins, “but a troubling phone call will convince Rose that Peter is in danger and needs her help. We'll see Rose's unique set of skills utilized as she attempts to locate Peter and make sure he's okay.”

The Night Agent star Gabriel Basso says Peter will have 'a lot more inner turmoil' in season 2
For Snow — who was “a huge fan of season 1" — joining the Netflix thriller was a chance to try something new. “The gun training was reason enough for me to try it. Not many people think of me being an undercover agent," she says.
The
Pitch Perfect star isn’t the only new face we find in season 2.
The Leftovers actress Amanda Warren also joins the cast as Catherine, the head of the night agent recruit program, alongside Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, and Teddy Sears.
The Night Agent season 2 drops Jan. 23 on Netflix.
