Hmm. At the time the (original) movie was released the real-life plot was not that distant. This was a time without cell phones and the interwebz so news wasn't immediate. Also, there were no whistleblowers so countries had lots of secrets.

Say that to say, I wonder just how they intend to pull it off because real assassinations these days are so simple they don't make for a movie or series.

Guess we'll have to tune in and see.

Strong cast tho.

Looks like a number of The Day of the Jackal episodes are now available online, as it has already commenced airing overseas.

Not quite sure what the rollout is in North America ... but I believe it's next week in the U.S. and Canada via Peacock and Showcase respectively.

As for the rollout schedule though ... looks like they are doing 5 episodes right off the bat, followed by once weekly until it wraps up in December.

The next rotation of shows is gonna be The Day of the Jackal / Cross / Landman / Yellowstone

And lemme know if you get around to Slow Horses. Definitely recommend that one. Just finished up the 4th season last month. Seasons are easy to get through at only 6 episodes each.

Yeah I don't get that drop 2 then go weekly or drop them all.

I'm watching regardless but it could confuse the audience. I hope that because it's so good that first 5 locks folk in.

It's interesting ... it's almost like you're playing catch up right from the start to "binge" those ones ... then it slows down to a normal wait-for-it pacing.

Like you said ... hopefully those first 5 lock us in.

Don't have Peacock here, but it looks like Showcase in Canada is carrying it once weekly for the time being (they air their own original programming, as well as the stuff they have the rights to from HBO, Showtime, Peacock over time).

Great cinematography, Excellent action and intrigue. Without adding spoilers, the wife angle is downright stupid and really shits on the storyline though.
