Have you had a chance to see Shantaram from recent years? Hunnam was well cast in that series ...

Shantaram is an American-Australian drama thriller television series created by Eric Warren Singer and Steve Lightfoot, based on the novel of the same name by Gregory David Roberts.[1] The story drew inspiration from Roberts' own life, which is about a bank robber from Australia who flees the country to India. The series consists of twelve episodes directed by Bharat Nalluri, Iain B. MacDonald and Bronwen Hughes. Steve Lightfoot joined as showrunner after Eric Warren Singer departed the project. It is produced by Fair Honest Positive Creative, The 4 Keys, Bohemian Risk Productions, Square Head Productions, Anonymous Content and Paramount Television Studios and was distributed by Apple Inc. for their streaming service, Apple TV+. The series premiered on 14 October 2022 and concluded on 16 December 2022.[2] In December 2022, the series was cancelled after one season.[3]

It's a good one. Definitely recommend it. Friends have enjoyed it as well, and been trying to get a few additional ones to see it as well (as they respectively read the 900+ page book, and I wanna hear what they think of the adaptation to TV).

Shantaram is a 2003 novel by Gregory David Roberts, in which a convicted Australian bank robber and heroin addict escapes from Pentridge Prison and flees to India. The novel is commended by many for its vivid portrayal of life in Bombay in the early to late 1980s.

The novel is reportedly influenced by real events in the life of the author, though some claims made by Roberts are contested by others involved in the story.

On an unrelated note ... this movie of his is worth a look too.

The Lost City of Z is a 2016 American epic biographical adventure drama film written and directed by James Gray, based on the 2009 book of the same name by David Grann.[4] It portrays British explorer Percy Fawcett, who was sent to Brazil and made several attempts to find a supposed ancient lost city in the Amazon.[5] It stars Charlie Hunnam as Fawcett;[6] Robert Pattinson as his fellow explorer Henry Costin, Sienna Miller as his wife, Nina Fawcett; and Tom Holland as his son, Jack.[7]

Its world premiere was on October 15, 2016, as the closing-night selection at the New York Film Festival.[8] It was released in the United States on April 14, 2017 by Amazon Studios and Bleecker Street.[9] It was praised by critics, but grossed only $19 million against a $30 million budget. Despite its lack of financial success, Time magazine listed it as one of its Top 10 Films of 2017.[10]

"Z" is pronounced "zed" by the characters in the film as spoken in the U.K.; it is pronounced "zee" by the British actors in the film's U.S.-made promotional videos to suit the local market.[11][12]

Well damn...Its improving.

I said it was a rough watch because of the sexual abuse stuff, but now I'm not sure if it actually happened?

Regarding the clip you posted, both of the brothers did OUTSTANDING!

The emotion shown and dialogue on the bus scene after Erik fucked up on the stand in episode 8 damn near had me in tears! :roflmao:

I’m sorry, I should’ve hidden the message for spoilers :(

It wasn’t really a spoiler, just a funny part. And the question about the sexual abuse stuff is just in general, now specifically from the show.

No worries! I KNOW how it ends

I don't think that the killers are romanticized, because I don't wanna have dinner or hangout with none of them muthafuckas!

But maybe I'm different?

Americans just like to know and see the story and the ins and outs of the stories, especially crime and big stories/cases.

We're nosy and wanna know and see everything. Also yes the killers are monsters, but they're also people and we wanna know how they got to become monsters.

With that said, the shows do somehow lessen the tragedies that they committed because some just see it as a movie or a show.

I don't care what Ice, Ice Cube, Ice T or Ice Cold Beer wants to know. I want to know the truth.

We all want to know the truth, at least I do. I don't wanna watch a bunch of lies.
