NYPD reviewing video after officers are seen punching man inside Brooklyn Target
FLATBUSH, Brooklyn — Several police officers were caught on camera punching a man who is who is pinned to ground inside of a Brooklyn Target.
The video surfaced Sunday on YouTube shows four officers pinning the man inside of the Target in Flatbush on Flatbush Avenue. One of the officers used his knee to pin the suspect’s head to the ground.
The Daily News reports that a Target employee called police after the man displayed “concerning behavior” in the store. The man, who has not been identified, was arrested after he refused to leave the store.
PIX11 spoke with the man who picked up his cell phone and pressed record on this rough looking arrest. Michael Rolland shared the video on YouTube just 24 hours ago. As of Monday evening, it has tens of thousands of views.
“Just before I recorded the video the young man was on the ground with at least 3 or 4 NYPD officers, holding him down and then just before I recording the video they started punching him in the back it seemed that he wasn’t complying with their instructions,” Rolland said.
Police tell PIX11 the video is under internal review.
The Daily News reports that the man was not injured in the incident.
