I think from all the interviews and retrospectives it was more about why the TEAM thought Carroll did it
They ALL wanted a run play.
(And this isn't Monday morning qb stuff)
Carroll gotta live with THAT part.
That messed with his entire legacy
Was it really about FOOTBALL and the best chance to win?
Cause everyone THERE on that sideline in real time?

And most other players on another teams felt the same way.
Watching the game all I remember is everyone in my living room and even non football fans saying couldn't he just give it to that big guy?
Yeah I remember the whole he didn't want Lynch to get MVP narrative that was going around but I never bought into that, it was just the 2nd down so it wasn't like it was 3rd down or the clock was running out so a run play was something that was needed right then
