I would've preferred to see Mikey get a shot at Lomachenko BEFORE the Spence beating...Depending on how Mikey looks in some tuneups, it still could be a good fight.
Loma has called him out, I would like to see this get done. A fight like this would renew my faith in boxing again.

Mikey's been calling Lomachenko's name for years. Whether it be weight classes, promoters, or timing, there's always some excuse for the fight not getting made.

Ward/Kovalev or Canelo/GGG didn't renew your faith/interest in the sport? How about Usyk, Crawford, Spence, or Tank Davis? They have been on the warpath.

Lomachenko vs Garcia has the potential to be great, but there are some potential underlying factors that have me shaking my head at the timing.

I remember an old boxer (50's era) telling me that once a fighter got his hair processed, he was on his way down.

Yeah. It really had gone down hill.

What factors?

Assuming the Danny Garcia fight gets signed, Mikey's last 2 fights will have been at 147lbs.

Again, assuming the Danny fight happens, Mikey will have fought two of the hardest hitting guys in the division back to back. And though he wasn't KO'ed or knocked down, he still took a solid 12-round beating at the hands of Spence.

Mikey will certainly have to lose weight for a Lomachenko fight, and he'll be 32 or 33 by the time the fight rolls around. Moving down in weight is rarely a good idea for fighters on the other side of 30.

Mikey will have been softened up a good bit for Lomachenko...If/when they fight.

@HeathCliff Who do you have as your #1 p4p currently? The last 2 that were clearly p4p #1 to me were Floyd and then Andre Ward but nobody clear cut to me after Ward retired. For me right now i'd have to pick between these 3.

Loma- Had 4 straight opponents go No Mas including the likes of Rigo and Walters. Only blemish on record is the Salido L in his pro debut where Salido came in significantly over weight and fought really dirty with a ton of low blows.

Inoue- Destroyed 3 world class fighters in a row in under 4 rds after moving up to a new weight class. Has 3 devastating punches in his arsenal with left hook, right hook, and left hook to the body. If he beats Donaire in this WBSS final, he should move up to 122 and fight Dogboe and Navarrete, Navarrete should be a difficult match up with his height and length advantage and if Inoue beats him would make a strong case for me as p4p #1

Usyk- Went through the tough WBSS CW tourney which is a tough division to become Undisputed CW champ, did it all in the opponents home countries as well, best CW since Evander Holyfield. If he ends up winning at least 1 HW title if not multiple, he's going to make a strong case for me as p4p #1
How exactly do you dudes put Loma number 1 with 13 fights a loss to a bum?

I just don’t understand how Canelo isn’t on top of everyone’s p4p. Or at least top 3.

He only has one loss and that was to an arguably top 5 fighter ever.

He’s fight literally EVERYBODY. multiple titles in multiple divisions. All his titles are legit. And NO ONE in boxing has his resume right now.

Agreed on the top 1 or 2 p4p, but I touched on this earlier in the thread.

I'd rather Canelo attempt to clean out 160, and not hop between weight classes fighting the lowest hanging fruit.

Also, his WBC Franchise belt is trash as is his 168 'belt' he won from Fielding. The real 168 WBA champ was, and still is, Callum Smith.

I just can’t see Smith beating Canelo and by legit I mean he’s beat real people for his belts. I mean do you really see Smith winning ?

Well for me he clearly lost 3 fights and was rewarded with wins or a draw. And then he was also juiced. You cant be my p4p when you're gifted wins and you're a cheat

Understood, but in today's world titles are kinda meaningless...Especially the WBA and the WBC.

As far as Smith goes. I think that's really a tough fight for Canelo. Canelo is easily the more skilled boxer, but there comes a point where talent/skill can be trumped by size and power and Callum is a GIGANTIC 168 lb'er.

If they were to fight, I'd pick Canelo, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised to be wrong and see Canelo get bullied and take the loss.

Yup, Lara, Cotto, Golovkin, and to a lesser extent Trout were all suspect decisions.

Great point. Canelo and Fury's PED usage is kinda swept under the rug.
I thought he beat cotto but trout clearly won that fight. Lara took him to school and that was just a world class robbery. The trout fight was close. Nothing needs to be said about the GGG fight. It was a clear L.

The Cotto fight was close, and honestly I don't have any issue w/ Canelo getting the nod. My beef was with the scorecards: 117-111, 119-109, 118-110.

No judge had Cotto winning more than 3 rounds?!?! I'll have to rewatch it but I remember it being a really close fight.

Suspicious scoring has been a pattern w/ Canelo. It's far too consistent to not be intentional.

Because he's an undeniably highly skilled fighter. Salido was hardly a bum he's a multiple world champion who Lomo fought in his second professional fight.

Lara I’ll give you. I thought Trout won as well. But GGG I thought he won both fights. I thought he won the last 6 rounds of the first fight. But let’s be real the judges got revenge in the second fight because I didn’t see GGG more than 3 rounds and they gave him 7 on one card.

Yeah because there’s no way that judge or any judge should have had him winning that Floyd fight.

Canelo in my eyes lost both GGG fights, Trout, Lara, and the Cotto 1 was really close so in my eyes he has 5 L's already which is why I can't put him top 5 p4p on my personal list

First fight I’m cool with but seriously man how do you think GGG didn’t lose the second? He got beat to the punch all fight.

I thought GGG was killing him with that power jab all fight, i counted a lot of those jabs as power shots because of them snapping canelo's head back. He also had Canelo hurt in 2 diff rds. The first half of the fight I thought Canelo was better but I had GGG winning the 2nd half of the fight handily
